Seriously, there really are no clear-cut limits. Your surgeon and your body are not the surgeon and body of anyone else. Ask the surgeon and listen to your body.
I had to take a road trip to New York City -- which is about 550 miles south of us -- a couple of weeks out. There was absolutely no way around it. My husband drove, which generally isn't the case.
I really wish I hadn't gone. I was still in the muscle pain stage, and I slept most of the trip, and most of the visit.
Because I had dropped weight and my feet had shrunk, I kept tripping on my shoes -- because I hadn't made the connection between those two things -- and at one point literally fell flat on my face in the lobby of the Hilton Hotel in Manhattan.
(I also had to meet with someone for lunch at the famous Stage Door Deli, and remember all but begging the waitress for a scaled-down version of their salad. She would not help me, and I ended up paying $7.50 for a chef's salad so I could eat half a hard boiled egg and a couple bites of meat.)
There are additional potentially embarrassing things that could happen to you which might make you want to remain close to a bathroom.
If you can possibly wait until you see how you feel after surgery, that's what I would suggest you do.
