|  I am insurance-approved for surgery!
Thankfully, I have very good insurance, and I meet the requirements, which are low compared to most. I did not need to do a 6-month diet, though the doctor's office kept telling me my insurance required it. My insurance utilizes a local network, which itself offers insurance. The doctor's staff assumed that anyone with that network had to follow that network's requirements. Not so. With persistence, I was able to prove this to them. I gave them the 5-year history, a letter from my doctor verifying my attempts at weight loss. (By the way, I wrote it and requested my doctor sign it. He agreed. That way, I made sure it had what was needed.) I got an h-pylori test. If that wasn't enough, I also was able to meet the special needs requirement, as I have sleep apnea, pre-diabetes, fibromyalgia, arthritis, metabolic syndome, GERD, and high liver enzymes (though I do not drink alcohol). It was les than two weeks before I got the approval letter.
Now I have to set a date and then start a 2-week liquid diet. I think that will be hard. I don't like being hungry.
I am looking forward to finally getting this done and joining the rest of you melting the fat away.

I didn't have to do the liquid diet but had to be on a dr supervised diet for 1 year prior to surgery. Good luck it wont be long before you wont be hungery anymore.

I was blessed with a surgeon that only required 3 days of clear liquids pre-op. I hear that is the worst part...the 2 week liquids. You will do fine, I am sure. Small price to pay for a lifetime of health.
