Height:
Default hyperlipidemia, pre diabetes, pre HTN and approval chance

Hi I am trying to make a case for surgery probably lap band, my bmi is 35 and only co morbidity is high (really high) cholesterol that I am going to initiallly try to control with diet and excercise. I am pre diabetes at 109 and pre hypertension at 138/82...
Any ideas on how insurance companies (united) rate high cholesterol as the only co morbidity. I am also an asthmatic.
thanks,
Mary

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Have a sleep study done to check for sleep apnea. This is another comorb that qualifies for weight loss surgery.

I think you should qualify but each insurance is different. Good luck on your journey, it is so worth it.

It all depends on your insurance company. You can try getting a list of what co-morbidites they will cover (good luck) and the surgeon's staff can probably tell you since they deal with all the insurance companies all the time.

I will say that the "pre" conditions won't count, nor the asthma since that's not weight related and probably won't improve with the weight loss (I could be wrong, I'm not an expert).

Best of luck!
