| test at therapist today
What a joke!!!!!! It cost me 90 bucks and it was a 175question t or f test. The questions were worded like " I ALWAYS" whatever or "most times" I didn't see anything on this test that would tell them if I was ready for this surgery. The two questions that were asked over and over in different ways were about drinking and drug use. I didn't even get to talk to the therapist today either. Anyone else have a test like this?

You payed 90 dollars, i payed $150 for 10 questions and i dont quite remember what the questions were now. I saw the therapist for about 30 minutes and she passed me. Oh well i have no regrets, I am healthier today than i was 2 plus years ago...

| Yep, they are looking to see how realistic you are about your outcome, believe it or not. I did similar tests and talked to the psych for about 15 minutes, mostly wanted to see how I saw myself, how my self esteem was, what my expectations were about the surgery, stuff like that. If they seriously eval you and you take it seriously it can be a very valuable tool; although what you describe isn't particularly comprehensive..... The psych in our program also came to see us in the hospital but I have to think that was about collecting a consult fee cause we were so drugged up they couldn't have gotten much sense out of me ~ LOL

I wish I could remember some of the questions exactly but they were like.. In a social situation, I always sit on the sidelines.....Sometimes I do sometimes I don't. How can that be a true or false answer?? I should have written down the name of the test. I think it was MM...something.

Mine cost $250 ~ insurance covered $175 of it ...
I enjoyed my session ~ lasted an hour and we had a lot of fun.
He faxed my 'approval' over to surgeon the next day.

I was able to get my psych eval from my therapist that I had already been seeing for nearly 2 years because she's done them for other patients of my surgeon. There was no written test, she just asked me questions about my weight, body image, eating habits, expectations, and I don't remember what else. She made it like an interview, then typed up a summary of her findings to send to the surgeon.

I saw the thearpist the first time for about 30 mins. He just talked to me stated the surgeon required this not my insurance. Asked about family stuff and job.
THen told me come back next week and I would be given a test.
Mine was about 200? questions could have been a few more. What I noticed about the first 50 is how they would ask the same questions different ways. Anyone trying to (beat) the test....... after they got to the end they would have let the real person out. I didnt get upset about it. I acutally laughed.
My insurance was not in network but accepted my insurance. Its the only choice I had so i ended up paying like 136.00 total for this. He told me he didnt feel like I needed to come back after the surgery unless I wanted to come in and talk about things that come up. Several do go back to get help.
Mine had to be graded I suppose buy a computer I was told. Or sent off to one? Took a couple weeks to get it back and sent to my surgeon. My surgeon told me I passed with flying colors. He said he did have alot that had to go back to see him for additional support before he would clear them. They didnt get the concept of what they were gonna do.
Now my cousin who sees thearpist and used this very surgeon didnt have to go do one because shes been seeing thearpist for years.
This was acutally the easiest pre op thing I had to do acutally. I didnt mind it and acutally enjoyed it. No im not kidding. Things are so serious about this and this was a breathe of fresh air for me doing it.

Probably MMPI=Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory test.
It may seem like a joke test, but believe you me, it tells well about certain aspects about you. This test is used to assess major symptoms of social and personal maladjustment.
Come to think of it, the applicants to the med school I went to had to take this during the admissions interview.
