Default what qualified me

the things that qualified me for open rny were:hypertension(i was on meds)over 100 pounds overweight, bmi of 50,joint issues, acid reflux.the way i was going in another year i would have had a much longer list.this is by no means what you HAVE to have as everyone is different and there is a whole slew of comorbidities that are caused by obesity.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

What insurance did you have and how did that process go?

Supercool.

Don us a fav and give us the play by play of how it worked out. Who did you talk to first and what/who were the next steps?

Were there any hospital or doctor restritions?

actually all i did was register at obesityhelp.com and said i was looking for a surgeon...same day i got an email from cori bariatric centers...i called them...and that was on a friday...they gave me a consult for the next monday...and i also saw the nut and had a psych exam the same day..they set it all up for me...i paid 125 for that cuz it wasn't covered.i met my surgeon that day too and a few days later they submitted it for approval....took i think 2 or 3 weeks for the approval.they covered the hospital and all no questions asked.i was ready for a fight and didn't get one.i am quessing most states would wrather pay for the surgery than all the meds to keep me going.hope that helps

I have Blue Cross...its been pretty smooth sailing...
I saw my primary who informed me I have bordline hypertension. She advice to lose weight and I've failed several diets...
My primary submitted the referral to see a surgeon at the center of minally invasive and weight loss surgery center.
I saw the surgeon who requires all patients to see a registered dietician, social worker, abdominal ultrasound and endoscopy with biopsy for H-pyloric.
I saw my primary the end of December saw the surgeon about 2 weeks after. I saw the dieticain and social work about 1 1/2 week after seeing the surgeon.
I had the ultrasound done about one week after the seeing the surgeon.
I had the endoscopy scheduled for Feb2... But, I wasn't H-pyloric positive...I've been rescheduled for the endoscopy for March 2,2006 until I finish the course of antibodics...and test negative for H-plyroic
So, I saw the surgeon Jan 11,2006 and would of been completed with all requirements by Feb 02,2006.
Thanks to God it's been going pretty good for me....

I agree....It's not simple...
But, thanks to GOD....I've been able to schedule appts pretty easy and the authorizations aren't taking long...
Maybe, it's just the medical group I'm contracted with .....
Maybe, its just luck or GOD working with me...Not sure what it is!!
The hardest part for me will probably be the surgery itself and just adjusting to eating right..
But, as far as insurance....it's been pretty simple and easy...
Hopeful surgery goes this well....
