Question Very important..to fast or not to fast?

I know this is going to sound dumb so please excuse me. My BMI is right at the airline for gastric bypass surgery approval w my insurance. My Dr and I are working to see how I can possibly get approved. He ordered me a glucose and insulin resistance test and didn't say anything about fasting so I was wondering if I eat something before it what will happen because honestly I want it to come back a bit high cause that'll be my golden ticket out of a long dark road w my weight. I have a 6 month old son n really want to be here for him as long as possible and my insurance company is a bunch of arrogant honey holes n they can't deny me if i have this...

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I don't know if it would "help" or not. I would think you insurance company will require more proof than just one high reading - mine did I fought with mine for about 6 months and then decided "I might not be able to lose this weight and keep it off, but I'm darn good at gaining" and proceded to get my weight up to the 40 BMI mark. Sad, isn't it?

Oh wait, I was looking at your starting BMI of 38, you're now over 40. Isn't that enough just by itself?

def...im not use to manipulating the system but for this im gonna try every thing i can. well today i had to see my pcp just to get a flu shot and i put 2 3 lb hand weights in my bra n wore an oversized sweatshirt..BMI from doing that would be 40.59 and since I quit smoking like the suggested I can blame the weight gain from that? I think Im still going to enjoy some pancakes with powder sugar before my insulin test friday...i dont know why insurance companies are such hineyholes!!! I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO!

You probably ought to talk to Country_Strong about getting rejected and taking the insurance companies on. She turned into quite the scrapper once they got her riled!! It was a heckuva show! She may be able to help you make it on appeal.

Good luck!!

There's a set method for glucose tolerance test, so if you deviate from that, the results will be uninterpretable. Meaning, it's not going to be of use.
You need to have fasted for 8 hours prior to the start. Don't try to eat before the test, because the endo who reads the result will know what's going on.
Good luck with your process.
