Default 6 mo supervised diet weight loss?

I'm calling the surgeon to schedule my first visit tomorrow. This ? has been rolling around in my head for some time now? I understand alot of ins co. require you to be on a 6 mo sup. diet, what if you are following it to the letter and you loose say... 10 lbs a month or so. Is the ins co going to come back and say Hey you don't need us to pay for surgery just keep doing what your doing? I am terrified this will happen to me. Has anyone out there had the same thoughts? And those of you that had to do the 6 mo diet did you loose and if so how much? Also if you don't loose very much are they going to say you're not trying? Just wondering, I have so many ? I can't wait to go to my appointment.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

HI whizzersmom, welcome to the forums.
I am glad your found this site to have people to turn to
during this journey!

As far as the six month supervised weight loss, its true that many insurance companies want this now. i got past just before my insurance
company put this in. I have not really heard of people not getting approved
from any weight loss or non during this time...good luck and i hope all
things go smooth!!!!
KEEP in touch and i look forward to getting to know you thru your posts.

Default 6 month diet plan

Hiya, I am on the 6 month supervised diet, and first off I do know that the insurance goes by your initial BMI. I also know for most of us even if we did lose a good amount of weight in the sixth month we would still be obese. I was told by the lady who takes care of the insurance at the surgeons office, that they frown more on you not losing at all. I was told noone has ever been turned down for losing too much. Of course I am going by what I was told, I haven't gotten that far yet. I am doing my second weigh in on June 11th. So I still have a way to go. Good luck!!!

Default 6 mth weight loss

Hi and welcome, I'm Anna, and I don't have an insurance that requires the 6 month weight loss, however I am on a board at Duke Weight Loss Surgery, and a lot of those people have to. They have not had a problem with the ins denieing once they go through the 6 mths. Most do not loss that much and that shows even more that the surgery is necessary.

When I did the 6 month thing I lost 25 lbs, my insurance still approved me. I was careful not to lose ALOT of weight because I was worried about this also!!

Good Luck!!

Courtney
