Weight Loss Method - | I just looked up and there is Shannon - Snukieboo - she goes to my church! yay Shannon!! WTG! Anyways my life has changed so much in the past year and now i am realizing that I do have a weight problem. I used to think it was my fault and i should do something about it. Well i lost some weight when I was seperated from my husband - partly because I wasn't eating at all. then we got back together and i have only 10 lbs that i haven't gained back. its horrible. I can't live like this anymore. My family is unsure of the procedure because of complications but i really want to do this. my husband hasn't said anything one way or another. i found a few places in ohio that do the surgery but only know for sure 1 that takes my insurance. i am going to talk to my regular dr about it in a couple of weeks at my next appointment. but our insurance doesnt require referrals. i filled out a thing with barix clinics and they are probably going to call me. my cousin said i should find aboard like this before i do anything to be sure and get support so here i am. ive struggled with weight since i was 9 years old then lost some as a teen and gained more than i ever thought i would gain when my mother died. even tho its been almost 7 years i cant reverse the damage thats been done to my brain or something, i just can't loose weight. awhen my student loan comes in i am joining curves but without WLS i dont know how much that'll help. looking forward to hearing from you guys. hope you're having a great day. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Welcome!! (((Huge Hugs))) As far as your family not being certain of the surgery, I experienced the same problem from my mom who is now my biggest cheerleader. She was concerned that I thought the surgery was some sort of magic bullet to instantly change me. I did the research prior to my telling her about the surgery, and had answers to many of her concerns. Then, I started to bring her to my meetings. She met with my surgeon, and saw how serious I was by the changes I was making toward a healthier me. Her concerns melted away over time because of my research, dedication, and the excellent surgeon/staff who helped me every step of the way. Please do some research about the surgery. Share the information with your family. I think they will feel more confident in the surgery over time and with your shared knowledge. Take care!! Amy

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hi! I'm new here, too, 3 months post op. And very glad i made that decision. Good for you that you are doing your research. Critical for me was that my husband came with me to every meeting, consult, nutritionist, etc., and was very well informed. He knew the risks, but he also knew that I would die from a co-morbidity if I didn't do it. I don't want to say that it is for everyone, but if, after you research, talk to a surgeon (go to one who ONLY does bariatric surgery), read, and ask questons, you feel in your gut and your heart that this is right for you, then fight for it, girl!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | welcome to the boards, you have come to the right place if your looking to have questions answered. I had my surgery on Sept 1st 2006 and don't regret it for a second. Not even when I had the stricture or had to have my gall bladder out!!! I would do it again |
