Exclamation Chantix and smoking

Just noticed that this circular has come from FDA in regards to Chantix.

"The Food and Drug Administration is calling for physicians to monitor patients who start taking varenicline (Chantix) for adverse behavior and mood changes, according to an FDA statement last month.
The agency acted following reports supplied by the drug's manufacturer, Pfizer Inc., of patients who developed suicidal thoughts and actions. Some also reportedly became erratic, aggressive or drowsy, and the FDA is warning patients who begin taking this medication to use caution when driving or operating machinery.
Varenicline is mainly prescribed for smoking cessation, and some of the reported symptoms also may be caused by nicotine withdrawal. The agency's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research is reviewing available data to determine the magnitude of the medication's role in the reported events.
The FDA requests that additional incidents associated with varenicline be reported to the MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program."

If any of you are taking Chantix to quit smoking, please be aware of the side effects that could happen.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

If I remember correctly, it also has some sleep/dream disruptive effects, some possibly linked to some really, really bad things.

But then, some really bad things are linked with smoking too.

My hubby was taking Chantix for help with "kicking the habit". He did really well for as long as he took the medicine but within just days of going off the Chantix he went back to the smokes.

Now he has to get to the place where he can start all over again.

We're in the middle of a custody battle on behalf of our son and grandchildren so the stress has been too much for him to try again at this time.

As for the side effects he didn't really have a problem with that.

I actually STARTED smoking after wls. Stupid stupid stupid. I replaced my need for food with smoking. I quit about 2 weeks ago and am using the patch. I don't really desire to smoke for many reasons but my main reason is my health.
