Question Need to hear from BACKSLIDERS!!

Hey, I'm having a really hard time--is anyone else? I started out at 389 lbs. This summer I was down to 243 lbs.. Now I'm back UP to 288 lbs!!! I am so depressed (yes, I'm being being treated for it) I feel like the only person who will fail this surgery. Has anyone gained so much again??

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Thanks for the words of encouragement you guys! My mom just went and bought me a slice of cheesecake because I was craving it! Yikes! For now it is in the fridge... I know I should give it to my skinny husband... If I can get back on track I will thank you for it--I'm a complete stranger and yet you took the time to help me get back on track...which no one else has bothered to mention. During the summer I was able to fit into cuter clothes and now they won't fit and it is so hard to like myself! Well, enough pity... thanks again!!

Look on the site for the 5 day pouch reset thing and maybe that will help you to get back on track, and like Edie said try to figure out how you got off track. Hang in there things will work out for you, Keep coming on here and get the support that you may need to help you along your journey.

Thanks, Edie and Tammy. I did sit and think what made me eat like I should not be. Stress/emotional eating... I decided to try to get back to a few hobbies I had and to sing more--music brings me joy! I'm gonna have to develop a backbone and 'Just say No' to most food...all food at inappropriate times... Please keep writing...I really think it is helping!

Hi Sheila, welcome back, I've been wondering where you were, and how you were doing all this time.
(((((((HUGS)))))))

First off, congratulations on your weight loss, and even if you've regained some, take stock of yourself, you are still over 100lbs less than where you started.

It's tough to set up good eating habits, and tough not to let the old/bad foods back in.
Go back to getting your protein in first, at least 60gs, and getting in lots of water, at least 64oz. Whenever you hear the call of food, first, drink some water, it's often been said that when you carry a lot of weight, you sometimes confuse hunger and thrist, so if you think you feel hungry, get your water in.
Also, as you say, take time for hobbies and exercise. Try exercising, even if it's just going for a walk--the weather's getting warmer now-- when you feel stressed out. Exercise releases *happy* hormones, and will make you feel better.
Post daily what you eat in the What did you eat today threads as this will help you keep track.
We also now have a Weight Loss Graduates forum, and the Kaye Bailey 5 day pouch test that's been mentioned is up there.

Last but not least, stick with us here, support is a very essential part of keeping up with your works. It is best if you can find a local support group that you can attend, but in the meanwhile, I hope you'll be able to stick around here to keep you motivated.

Ah, I forgot, one more thing.
You still have your tool. It may take a bit more effort than right at the beginning when you were fresh out of surgery, but so long as you have your tool, you can make it work, and make it to your goal.

(((((((((HUGS))))))) May your journey go well.

Sheila I am there with you. I haven't gained more than a couple of pounds but I have been "bouncing" here for MONTHS. I know what my problem is, I am eating everything I want, when I want. I got a new job that was just wonderful at first because no stress, now I'm bored because I hardly have any work. So what do I do sitting at a desk for nine hours a day? Yep you guessed it. CARB OUT!

I need to get back to the protein and veggies. One thing I am working on is getting in more water. I got some of the crystal light pouches and they help the water go down. I can feel the loose skin filling back in and I certainly don't want that. I'm going to keep up on the board, you do the same. We can get through this together!
