Hello, my name is Mark (wendel34) I am 35 married with two children. In 10 years I would have been dead if not for WLS. I was 316lbs with high blood pressure and diabetes, Type II. My AC1 ran about 12.9 and my average glucose was 200-400.
June 27th 2008 I went for Lap gastrict Bypass surgery. It will be coming up on 4 moths post op and I have lost 71lbs (245lbs) off all medication, no diabetes and my blood pressure was 118/76 last week. I am thinking I will ive about another 50 years instead of just 10 now. WLS save my life for me and my kids. My wife (225lbs) had the surgery june 9th and she is 62lbs down and looks great  . Looking forward to meeting everyone......

Welcome, Mark!! Good to have another guy on board - they've got us surrounded!
Looks like you and your wife are doing a great job. My wife is getting ready for WLS, probably around Christmas. I got a new life last year at Christmas when I had mine done, and it has been fantastic!! Off several meds, all health indicators are moving in the right directions, great energy, feeling better than I have in years, etc. etc. etc. You know what I'm talking about.
You say your goal is 200. Don't be surprised if you blow right through it and end up somewhere south of there. My first goal was 180. I dropped it a bit and you can see where that got me! The body will decide for you where you'll wind up. Just be sure you keep your protein intake up so you don't lose strength along the way. I may be a scrawny little guy now (my mind hasn't caught up with that self-image yet!) but I kept my strength. There's a guy in our support group who didn't, and a year later he's to where he can pick up 50 pounds. Not a good thing for a material handler! I, on the other hand, was just out in the garage moving a 350 pound generator around and onto a trailer by myself. (It's all technique - not brute strength. But keeping the muscles helps a lot!)
