Hi Deborah, I lost 100 pounds the first six months and then hit the plateau from haydees! I was so diappointed because nothing that I did would help jump start my weight loss. I did not realize that at this time I was losing inches! Now, I stress to people to take their measuremets prior to having WLS. After about three months I started losing. It was slow, but it was coming off and that was all that mattered. By July of 2004 I had lost down to 195 pounds and had been at that weight for many months so I decided to go ahead with my TT. He removed a little over 9 pounds of skin! I went on to lose another 21 pounds within the next two months. So I have maintained my current weight 165 to 168 since October of 2004. I'll tell you though, it is not easy! I work at it every day of my life. In October 2005 I was faced with some issues and began old habits of grazing. Before I knew it I had gained 17 pounds! It scared me to death! I took a long look at ME and decided that I was not going to go back to where I came from. I went back to the basics and the weight did come off. By February 2006 I had lost the 17 that I had gained. I do enjoy what food I eat, it maybe just a small portion, but I enjoy every bite and I don't feel guilty about what I eat. I LOVE Godiva dark chocolate. My son bought me a box for my anniversary and I would eat one piece maybe twice weekly and gosh; I thought I had gone to heaven! Yes, I was condemmed by some, but I had the surgery to live, enjoying a piece of dark chocolate is part of my living! Everything in moderation. We have to teach ourself how to eat properly in order to maintain our loss. I weigh every day! When the scales go up to 170 I back off and re-evaluate what I am eating. Although I would love to get down to 149 just so I would be "normal". I don't see that happening! I've tried so hard and it seems my body likes being where it is. I'm happy with that. My clothes range in sizes from an 8 to a 14 bottom and a medium top. It just depends on the name brand. That is why I tell people to not get caught up in size. I'm sorry to have typed so much and I hope I have answered your questions. If not just drop me an email! Have a blessed day! Becky | |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Wow...thanks for all your answers...That is quite helpful!! I've also read pieces of your story on OH...wow!! Your faith has played a huge part in your journey... I'm praying that my journey will be smooth...and that I will adjust without issues. I have quite a lot of weight to loose...and don't know how long it will take...and always worried that I will not loose it all. I love hearing your journey...and do plan on having plastic when we are able. How was that?? having your TT...is that all you did? How do you feel abou that? Will you have more...or are you good where you are? How tall are you? The weight you are....would be wonderful for me...but, I'm always worried about the 15-30# they say you mostlikely will gain after 2 yrs. Although, I'm loosing my weight well...I'm still not practicing good habits. I haven't gotten into a good routine of eating, nor do I choose protein before everything else. I need to get my protein in...and am not good at it. You've just reminded me that this time - "honeymoon phase" is to learn...I'm not taking very good advantage of this time. I wish that my hunger would never come back.... :::::sigh:::::

Height: | I am with you Deb...I don't always make the best choices, but feel that I would make better ones if the meat would settle better for me. I am also glad to hear that Becky indulges occasionally in Dark Chocolate by Godiva. I also believe that in moderation...you can still live. Maybe that is just my philosophy, but I am done beating myself up over every little thing. It isn't productive. Janae |
