Thanks everyone! I feel amazing...and look at all of you and your weight going down down down. Isnt it great to be sitting on the losers bench? While I think I look great...I feel even better...better self esteem, more energy...an all around happier person.
I wanted to address Angies question about whether I eat the same food I did before only in smaller amounts? The answer is no. I actually posted a reply to my original "hello" in the profiles section where I answered a similar question. I used GBS as a tool to change my relationship with food. I no longer eat sugar and junk food. I eat lean protein, vegies, and fruit. Yogurt is yummy twice a week. I eat soy crisps on occassion just for the crunch. I have 2 rules I live by. 1. If its not in the house I cant eat it (in other words...i dont buy it) and 2. dont take the leftovers home. Yes, I go out and have something at a restaraunt. I went to TGIF and had jack daniels chicken strips but I gave the leftovers to my friend. If I hadnt I would have eaten them for breakfast, lunch, dinner and breakfast again. The biggest thing that has helped me since losing the weight is that I keep (started after the surgery) a food journal. I write down the times and what I ate. This keeps me from grazing throughout the day which is one of the reasons I needed the surgery..LOL. This was my last chance to lose weight...I was a type 2 diabetic (not anymore) and I had had 2 coronary stents placed (my cholesterol is normal now) and I do not want to gain it back. I have met several people who had GBS and have managed to graze the lbs back on. Today I still follow many of the rules I followed right after the surgery...sometimes I still weigh and measure my food but I am pretty good at eyeballing it, I eat with a baby spoon and a shrimp fork, I still make every oz last 10 minutes, I still take small bites and chew it to mush, I still put my fork down after every bite, but most importantly I chose healthier foods (most of the time), and I keep that food journal. Thanks for the warm welcome and good luck to all of you...I see most of you are off and running!
Here's to sitting on the loser's bench!
Robin

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I feel awesome. I need to answer angie's question about what I eat. No I do not eat whatever I want just smaller portions. I used WLS as a tool to change the habits that got me to the point where I was a type 2 diabetic and needed 2 coronary stents. Today, I eat a diet of lean protein, veggies, and fruit. I do not eat the junk I did before. Today, a banana tastes like candy. I have not eaten sugar, or bread since my surgery. I have 2 rules I live by 1. If its not in my house I cant eat it and 2. Dont bring the leftovers home. I still go out on occassion and I do not deprive myself but I dont bring the leftovers home. I still follow many of the rules, I use a baby spoon and a shrimp fork, small bites, put fork down after each bite, chew food to mush, make food last 10 minutes per ounce, eat from a small plate or bowl etc. The most helpful thing I do is I keep a food journal. I write down when and what I eat. It helps me police myself and keeps me from grazing back up to 200 lbs. Its possible to bypass your bypass doing that. I did not work this hard just to put it back on...not this time. So no Angie, Idont eat the same stuff I did before...I cant. The weight loss surgery for me was the tool to change the bad habits that got me to the point of needing the surgery.
Thanks all
