 |  Then and now ~ my brain still hasn't caught up with the changes!
When I began this journey, I knew I was going to lose weight. What I didn't know was how difficult it would be for my brain to compute the differences between what I looked like then and what I look like now. It was easy to feel better physically. The more difficult parts come in small ways. I still automatically go to the plus size section of clothing stores before I realize there is nothing there that will fit me. When I look in the mirror, I still have trouble recognizing myself, although that's getting a bit easier as time goes by. My family is now telling me to STOP losing weight. I'm sure I'm not the only one with these experiences.
If my before and after photos load into this message, then you'll all be able to see where I came from and where I've arrived at. It's still hard for me to look at the "before" photos. I see a tortured soul who covered up her life essence for the momentary relief food gave her. In the "after" photos, I see a person who has shed, for the most part, a severe addiction to food, and I know I must continue to work on that and on making sure I don't end up substituting another unhealthy addiction, including an addiction to being thin. It's all about balance, after all, and that has become my next challenge.

Thank you for such a wonderful Post! I am SO glad to see someone face up to the addiction issue and have a such a beautiful way of putting the before and after thinking. Truly you are very aware and in a good place.
Just don't let those in your life try to pull you 'back' !
At 7yrs post I can tell you I still struggle with the things you are regarding the head space. It's frustrating to say the least sometimes. I told my daughter last night i had a major 'fat head' thing going on the day before but as i was walking in to the 7-11 to get a drink a really attractive gal walked through the parking lot with me and as I thought about how I wished I was that size, was feeling really unattractive...
We walked toward the reflection and I saw that in fact!! I was the same size she was! Then as guy came out and as he passed me, looked me in the face and said "wellll good morning gorgeous" ...LOL..okay so what is wrong with me in my HEAD!
it's all a crazy roadtrip sometimes you know?
