Default Funny but Gross..................

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to share..... I was once a competative swimmer and I have always been like a fish in water, since my surgery I have only been swimming a handful of times, in the beginning I very rarely had the energy due to the lack of food, and then the further I got out, I was becoming very conscious of the loose flab on my legs, well as the weight drops the looseness gets worse and I like to keep them under wraps, anyway I plucked up the courage and went swimming on Friday....

I dived in to the pool, and MY LIFE the loose flesh on my legs acted as a blooming Parachute and slowed me right down, I knew I had looseness down there but to physically feel the resistance was gross to say the least, One good thing though all x 4 of My swimming strokes were back!! And it has now inspired me to go more often, and I am hoping that I can still tone some of the looseness although I am not Naive enough to think that it will all go away..

Thanks for listening

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Good on ya for getting out there and doing it! I used to love years ago in my 20's to swing laps..but wow..I really still to this day not comfy in the whole swimmy suit action..yikes!!!

Even in our search & rescue training when it came for the water rescue part (which was optional) I ducked out..especially after several of the guys kept going on about how they couldn't wait to see ME in a swim suit..Better to just not go there.

Water makes me so nervous now as I've gotten older

So I totally applaud you on getting in there and swimming!! Stick with it girl!!!

Hi angie,
I really can relate to that, being at former competitive swimmer too :-)
It is really strange to be a lot more self conscious now, than when I was at my biggest. Hang in there though. I find that sitting in the sauna for 20-30 minutes before diving in, shrinks my excessive skin, and has helped a lot. Especially with a round of loofa massage afterwards when in the shower. So keep up the good work, and take a stroke or two for me too? :-D

What a brave soul you are to "get back on the horse," so to speak. If swimming makes you happy keep doing it:-)

Unfortuantally it is the reality of this process. I am dealing with the same issues. I am worried about summer and am really working to tone as much as I can before it gets here.

For so long we have let our size and body immage dictate what our life will be. For so long we have sat on the sideline watching life, love and fun pass us by. For years we cheated ourselfs out of happiness.....all i have to say is.....don't let the weight or skin win anymore...do what u love and love what u do! U r worth it!

Good for you !! I understand abou the loose skin, I am there as well. I hope the swimming helps. I used to love swimming too - I have a pool but it is not the same as a big pool where you can do laps. Now you sparked an idea in me to look for some place to go myself. Congratulations on making it to the one hundreds. I just did the other day too!!

Ah, the lovely loose skin -- I haven't been in the pool but I love when I'm lying flat in the bath and my "belly skin" kind of free floats ... EEK!!!

not only can I relate (although I have yet to actually have surgery...my loose skin comes from hernia work that had been done) but I can add to it...I was literally knocked speechless!!!! We bought our new house, oh so excited about having this big beautiful whirlpool tub, I slip in, turn on the jets and watched the whole thing, not only was my excess skin "free floating" but being jetted this way and that by the water jets of the tub!!

For me...for now, till some of the excess is removed...I think I'll be sticking to showers!
