| My smallest pics-finally found 'em!
For anyone curious to see how small I got at the leanest bit while I was in EMT/Medic training..you can see what IS possible with very hard work post op. this was Spring of 2004 pre CPAT test for OCFD.
Me in my brand new EMT uniform (size 6/8) feb/march 2004
and lastly, a side view of me PRE SURGERY 2002
yes...you can see why some people refused to believe that really WAS me in the top picture or worse accused me of having had PS.
WLS gives back life and can give you a life to live...It's amazing to see these pictures to me the pre and the smallest post op sizes to realize how HARD I worked to get to those places.
Good luck to all on the WLS journey...!
I am very proud to see where I went with it and where I'm still going. I was 40 when I had the surgery and I'm now 48!

Bree,
How fun! Thanks fo sharing the EMT pic. You are always an encouragement to us newbies!
Speaking of arms (I know you didn't say anything about arms but I love the bicep pic), how do you best recommend to eliminate the flabby parts that hang down? I'm building more muscle and I know some of it will decrease with extra weight loss, but I'd really like to de-flab the underside of my arms. Currently, I'm primarily doing lots of tricep strength training...
Please share your wisdom!!

I just want to say thanks to all who commented. Finding these pictures was really good for me to be reminded of what I had gained in body and mind before so many bad life happening just 'happened'..
I really urge all that have looked over these to also check out my photo album. You'll see clearly that 8 years time means a LOT of body changes. The 'arm' picture was at my very leanest and that was during a time of running 6 days a week, working hard at weight training and 2 high rep weight classes each week, plus I went to a batting cage facility and used the back super thick mats they have for behind you to hit with a 10lb sledge hammer as that was the 'station' I was most weak on in the pre CPAT walk through.
Very hard hard work to get there. My life was training, school, that was it. Gym 2 times a DAY! What I always say, and I never ever mean it in any negative way..you CAN work very very hard and get a totally awesome result, you have to also EAT to support it. I was eating ALL the time to meet a very high protein intake and drinking to offset it too water all day long.
In 2006? if I remember right I was put on testosterone gel. With the addition of the hormone replacement therapy I put on body and muscle weight, but in that addition my whole body changed. The "after" pic in the bikini & red sarong is very PRE Testosterone. (if I remember the timing all correctly!) But it is NOT at my lowest weight either interestingly enough. But it IS the most healthiest look for sure.
The super blonde pics are all from post Testosterone which you can clearly see gave me boobs again..urgg!! and put on body weight all over. These are from early spring last year.
Our bodies change, life changes. Women...gosh as we get older, in spite of the WLS our bodies DO still go through changes. I am NOT in any way in menopause because of the testosterone which very obviously caused an Estrogen response (in a man it'd be called "gyno-mastia") But I am also 48..
With the coming week I'll find out when I can finally start working out and have of course! already worked out a whole 3 months plan for myself which I'll show to the surgeon and see what she thinks on that one.
I am doing really well...the fall which pulled the deep internal stitch caused a scare of possible hernia so we are still crossing fingers on this one!
God is amazing to me in my life and I'm SO grateful for the surgery I just had to get the internal hernia fixed, got that intestine back where it was supposed to be and get that huge appendix out. What was with that anyway?? ridiculous!
Look over the photo album on my profile for more pictures to give you a very good idea of what is possible, how life can effect your body and a real look at how we can get really small but don't always stay there.
note: there is an entire forum on "exercise after WLS" and I have a whole thread on different workouts posted there on specifics---disclaimer!~! they are meant for those who have been working out for several months post op to over a year post op. They are NOT intended for those early post op at all. They are NOT easy workouts..
