| almost 2 yrs
on August 3rd, it will be my 2 year mark...and im nervous that the weight loss will stop now...i have been told so many different things about what to expect....like becuz i was so big that it would take me possibly 3 years to get rid of te excess weight...bbut weirdly i have lost like 8 lbs in the last 3 weeks or so and i feel like im eating more at times that i think i should....could i be starving myself, so the weight will stop....cuz i stall ALL the time...and i bounce in between like 3-5 lbs and it is frustrating...so is it true that my weight loss could take that long....i dont see my surgeon anymore either..so i don have that medical opinion....My aunt yesterday saw me and said, "are you losing more weight?" i stated "NO, well maybe a couple lbs". and she said "maybe you should think about stopping".....now is that weird? cuz i am still fat and am still like 30-40 lbs from MY goal and it makes me feel like i look weird or something, and i look in the mirror and i know how fat i still am....its SOOOOOOOOOOO misleading......help.....

My 2 year mark will be next month as well, was wondering the same thing. I have been losing around 1/2 lb a week currently but it took me to my 18th mark to lose 100 lbs, so I am losing at a slower rate than most. My surgeon at my 18th month mark said I was done losing weight but have lost not quite 20lbs since then. I just keep following the rules, and see where my journey goes from there.

I'm only 7 1/2 months out so I can't say when the losing stops or if it does. I would think you could lose as long as your input is less than your output. But since I had no success before surgery at losing weight, who the heck knows. I just wanted to let you know we had the discussion of how we still think we are fat even if other people see us differently at our support meeting this month. There were maybe 30 people and lots of the post wls had the same feelings. I think it is because when I look at myself in the mirror I'm the same only less of me. So I just shrunk, I didn't change my shape. I look the same in a mirror, I can just can see more of the background behind me.
I also just wanted to tell you what a fabulous job you have done so far. Thats 2 teenagers or 4 small children or 1 whole you! I know that doesn't help with your question but Great Job anyway!!!!

| I know how you feel. I hit 2 years in June and I am still about 25-30 lbs from my goal. My daughter had my 1st grandbaby in May and for the last 6 months or so..everything kinda switched to her and the baby (attention wise) and I got off my schedule. I (WE - all of us who had WLS) have to be able to live life and still be vigilant about what we eat and our exercise regiment. My exercise regiment went right down the toilet...my eating was not as bad - but not that good. Thank God I didn't gain any weight...but I did not lose anything either and did not exercise and my muscle-building is not doing well at all. Lesson learned!!! again.... I need to stay on top of my eating and exercising more carefully…. |

I take a look at your stats, see your pics and think "OMG...what a great job!".
As I'm a newbie and still wonder about gaining weight back nearly everyday...I wish I had advice to give you. If someone once told you that you have up to three years...then I wouldn't give up hope. You've done an amazing job and are a tremendous good example for the rest of us!
As far as the seeing big...my surgeon said that is normal. I still see big in the mirror. I still see a huge belly everyday when I look down. I think that is just part of our brains not catching up with what it is seeing.
Hugs....

You have done great. I seem to remember someone once posting that you will still have your tool after 2 years. It will serve you well if you remember calories in and calories out. If it takes 3 years, that is just more practice doing the right thing.

I so relate!!! I have been a slow weight loser, I spend most of the time stalled or bouncing between the same 4lbs. I am anxious about long term because I am 4.5 months out and have lost so little I don't know what to expect. I look great and have no diabetes but like you I want to reach goal or below.
I have tried not to be obsessive---
