| pro stat 64 Liquid protein that works for me http://www.4webmed.com/main.cfm?page=my_health
This is a link which had information about pro stat 64 which is used by baratric patients. I perfer this because I am allergic to soy, dairy intolerant and is gluten free, you don't have to take hours to drink and it dosen't make me sick on the stomach like the powder does. Read the link and tell me if I am missing anything. Baratric patient use it and there are two kinds so the one specific to us is pro stat 64. I also found pure protein bars at walmart that have 19 to 20 g of protein per bar so now I can get my protein easily and the bars satisfy the sweet tooth and taste good. Looking for feed back.

Barbara-I am curious because protein is my daily struggle too. Have you tasted these products? If so which flavor do you like and has your nut. or doc. gave any input to this product? I hope you post the answers you get on this, I will be looking. Thanks-God Bless

It taste like medicine, I have cherry and fruit punch but I just take it as a shot and just drink it in one swallow. I plan to talk to the NP on my next visit and take the bottle with the nut info on it. I did a search on this site and found that there are and were several people who take pro stat 64.

ok dont get mad but it has collagen protein in it and as RNYers we can not absorb that kind of protein. This is a copy of the ingredients list :
Ingredients: Hydrolyzed Kosher Collagen Protein, Filtered
Water, Glycerin, Citric Acid, Flavor, L-Tryptophan, Sucralose,
Acesulfame-K, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate and
Phosphoric Acid.
So you are not aborbing any of the protein you think you are out of 15 grams you are probably getting 3 if that. Just because they say they are geared towards bypass patients doesn't mean they are you have to read the labels on protein powder and drinks as well.

Thanks CherylK - but how do you know that we don't absorb that kind of protein? I'm not being a smart-a$$ when I ask that, it's just that there was sooo much that I wasn't told during my 6-month pre-op classes that I'm wondering what else I don't know! Does that even make sense?

Ya it does make sense. It is scarey how much some are not told. My dietitian and I have talked about it many times also we talked about it in group last week.
Normal none wlsers can use it and it is fine like body builders and what not.
The issue -- and it is a serious issue -- with collagen protein is the quality of the protein -- how well your body can use the protein. So first, what is collagen protein? Collagen protein typically comes from the skin of animals, e.g. cows, or from other residual connective tissue that hasn’t gone to other markets. It is well understood that collagen protein alone is an incomplete protein. It is completely lacking in trypotophan, an essential amino acid. As a result, it has a protein quality score (PDCAAS) of zero. Protein quality scores range from 0 to 100. The ideal is 100, and the whey protein isolate in UNJURY has a PDCAAS score of 100. The American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons nutrition white paper states: With collagen protein, even when the manufacturer adds ingredients to try to improve the PDCAAS score, it is common for the PDCAAS score to remain low. "Caution should be used when recommending any type of collagen- based protein supplement

Thank you so much for letting me know! I could write A BOOK over the stuff I wasn't told by my dieticians before surgery! It's shameful that they are still allowed to run the program!
