I hope this is the start of a beautiful friendship, everyone.
I'm 34, been overweight for the majority of my post-pubescent life, and I hit the highest weight I've ever been this past summer (see signature below for details).
I'm in the last stages of the series of appointments that are required for me to be approved for gastric bypass surgery, and I suspect that I'll be having a sleeve gastrectomy sometime in January.
Here's a couple of "before" pictures, taken today:

Welcome, zan! Nice to have another guy around here!!
You will be glad you have these "befores" when you have some good "afters" to lay alongside 'em. You might even consider taking a few more just for the record. You can look at my album and see how valuable they can be.
Start now to live as many of the WLS rules as you can and form those good habits early. That way when they give you clearance to use your teeth again, you'll be falling back into them instead of trying to form them while you're stressed from the surgery. You also might lose a few more pounds, which is definitely not a bad thing.
Read the archives, use the search function and find out as much as you can before your date with destiny. You can't know too much! Most of us have had RNY, mainly because for us old-timers, the choice was that or the band. But we don't care how you do it, whether through surgery or sheer determination, anyone serious about extreme weight loss is one of us! We don't do flame wars or drama here, just lots and lots of support and love, a pat on the back when you've earned it and maybe a bit lower and harder when you need it!!
