I think WLS surgery gives you normalcy - just that prior to surgery OUR normalcies were NOT NORMAL!!!!!!! By 18-24 months out I should be eating a meal similar to what the Canada Food Guide suggests - THAT will be NORMAL. And to tell the truth, the idea of little to no sugars is not a bad thing, nor is having a lot of processed foods - they contain WAY too much sodium etc anyhow!
