i am due 2b getting a roux en y surgery soon. i am no stranger to wls but i am am bit confussed to eating patterns and these protein drinks come supplements you have to take! is this going to be a permenant fixture in my life or can you eventually return to real food. i have seen on site that some eat protein first then veg then carbs, is this the normal?i am based in uk and i do know that our brand names differ to the states, i phone the nutritionist at my hospital who told me that the protein drinks to use were called slim fast. which here is a diet aid!
i must admit i do like the sweet things which has only developed after my last surgery, can a roux en y post op patient use diabetic products ,?or do i have to label check on everything?

Have no fear, you will be able to go back to *real* foods.
Though, the condition is, you will have to choose the foods that your pouch will be *happy* with, in amounts that it can deal with.
