Fire in the hole..

Hello everyone! I am not sure what I am doing yet on here, but here goes...
Had my RNY surgery a month ago, have lost 26 pounds (is that about average?). I am on the soft diet for two more weeks. Had an experience with eating some fresh fish, and it HURT, even hurt down in the intestines. Maybe I didn't chew it well enough, but it sure was unpleasant, and left my esophogus feeling on fire. Have any of you had that happen? I am thinking I might have to go back to my Prilosec that I took before the surgery???
Thanks for listening..

Welcome to the board, thank you for joining us.
Congratulations on joining the Losers' Bench.
((((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.
Um...soft food stage and fresh fish as in raw?...If so, I don't think they go together, actually. Too early. Soft food means cooked, not fresh yet, your pouch and newly rearranged plumbing is yet too tender to be able to process raw things. If you are unsure, be sure to call your surgeon's office and check it out.Posted 06-28-2009 at 10:50 PM by DocSanae

Not a sushi fan!!
No raw fish for me. I meant fresh, as in not canned. The fresh fish is on my list of soft foods. I don't think it was the fish itself. I have had GERD for years, and haven't been on any medication for it since the surgery. I am going to call my Dr. tomorrow and get the go-ahead to take the Prilosec that I had been taking. Thanks for your comments! I hope I am doing everything right. Nothing has ever worked for me, diet after diet, and I am fearful that this will somehow not work either. I am following all the instructions given me. I already feel a lot better with just the 26 pounds off.
