Dumping Syndrome Pain
Posted 11-11-2010 at 06:18 PM by pdattilo
Can anyone else describe the "pain" portion of dumping? I have had it twice (once today) and it feels like a truck is sitting on my upper abdomen - is that what it feels like to others? This is the worst pain ever. I ate some shredded chicken today and the last time I had it and it was so painful I thought I was going to pass out. Obviously I won't eat that again for awhile (I'm 6 weeks post op) but wanted to get others input on the pain part of it.
thanks!
thanks!

I just read some blogs on another site and I don't think this is dumping at all because i don't get diarreah, sweats or anything like that. I think this is the food getting stuck before it even gets to my stomach/pouch. It has to be something with chicken not being pureed (which I'm supposed to still do) and I just can't tolerate it yet.Posted 11-11-2010 at 06:25 PM by pdattilo

I had the dumping syndrom several times and yes you do get diarreah. I am almost 9 months out and I still sometimes have problems with chicken. It will get better with time, if you keep having the problem you should talk to your Dr., and they can check you for problems!! Hang in there!!Posted 11-12-2010 at 09:12 PM by Jackie L

Jackie - thanks. I never had the diarreah - just the awful pain. I'm sure it's the chicken and I'm wondering if it's because it's stringy? I also talked to a lady who had the lap band and she said she can't have grilled chicken because it's stringy/shredded and it really bothers her so this must be it. thanks again for responding! i'm really looking forward to starting phase 4 - soft foods.Posted 11-12-2010 at 09:28 PM by pdattilo
