Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Folks, I've been fighting with my washer since the day I went for my surgery (June 14). It died like a few hours before I went to the hospital. Four months old, Fisher and Paykel (supposed to be a good energy and water efficient model) Spent a good bit for a top loader because I wanted it to last ![]() ![]() ![]() .... Anywho. Since I was laid up for a week and hubby being hubby, it didn't get called on until the 20th. The first two years on my washer were covered by the company (Fisher and Paykel - UK company) , the next four are covered by Lowes. All six years use the same repair company A&E Appliance Repair. Two weeks before they can come out to look at the washer!!!! ACK! So, three trips to the laundromat later (not a good thing, not a good thing at all).... The guy comes to the house, diagnoses the problem, and it needs parts. He'll order them and be back in ANOTHER 2 WEEKS!!!!!! By this time I am furious. Not at the guy, he's just the service guy. At the company providing the "service". The store that sold it to me can give me a loaner, provided that I keep my machine at the house. ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I don't have room for another washer. (We are packed tight since I have a side business.) Except on the back porch. Which would be a bad thing, since it's not closed in. Two more massive laundry. So, July 16 they call to confirm the appointment and ask about the parts. A box had arrived, we looked inside.... only one part of three. They need all three, they'll call back. They don't call back. We call back the next morning and find out the part is on backorder coming from the UK will be in 6-8 days and THEN they'll schedule service when they can. So I jump up and down and call the manufacturer and talk to them again and they promise to talk to the service people. They call back and leave me a message Thursday saying the part will be in Monday, they'll be here to fix Tuesday but to confirm. Called the service people.... Yes the part will be here on Monday, but they won't be HERE until Tuesday the 31st! Soooooooooooooo....... hopefully, hopefully, hopefully, my washing machine will be fixed on the 31st. I could have bought another one with what I've put out at the laundromat. Certainly if you pair it with the cost of my service plan. Just wanted to let you all know, in case you didn't know.... There is no provision for loss of use in these service plans (at least LOWES). They can string you along for however long they like until they fix it. The lemon law only comes into play once it's broken three times. From now on, I'll only buy a service plan on something they'll straight up replace. I don't mean any harm to any of the service people or the phone people, or anyone working for any of these companies involved cause it's not their fault -- it's just the management of the companies. I just want to tell as many people as I can so they don't make the same mistake and spend 70 - 100 + dollars on a service plan that is worthless. Sorry for the rant, but I was clueless until now.

| Super Moderator | Oh. Wow. I know I would be lost without my washer. I think BreeChick had hers break down fairly recently and was on a mad. ![]() For me, the couple of times it happened, I figured I got enough out of 'em (had them for about 10 years) and made that an excuse to go out and get a new one. I sure hope when they finally come to fix it, you'll get it fixed right.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Oh dear. There is nothing worse than having to deal with a downed appliance.I have been there and did that. My little story goes like this....... the place I brought a new dryer element from ordered the wrong part. This was the dealer I bought it from. We got it home it didn't fit. They WOULD NOT TAKE THE PART BACK! Why because its was a electrical part. So I had to buy the other piece to. Good luck on getthing this in an running agian.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Cindylouwho, I can totally relate! A year back we had a similar problem with our washer and my DH took a day off from work to be here when the repair guy was supposed to come. Of course they give you a 4 hour window to show too, so you're literally trapped at home waiting. They called a few minutes before the end of the window and said they'd come now at the end of the day instead of the original window, so DH goes to work, I come home early from work. One minute before the next window closes they call and tell me they're not going to make it and the next available appt is in 2 weeks! I was livid! I called the manager and was stern, but still polite; he hung up on me, not once but twice! I could understand this had I been a raging lunatic or using inappropriate languague, but I never did. I simply wanted service sooner than 2 weeks since they had made an appointment and they cancelled it. I didn't blow them off. Long story short, we used a local appliance company instead of Sears who we had our service plan with. I now work only with our local company, even if it means paying just a little bit more than the big box stores. I can always count on our local co. to stand behind their machines with great service. Bad service is just unacceptable. We can't live easily without our washer/dryers! Good luck getting through this! I can totally relate. Amy

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I need to share this with a car warranty my brother had. He had just a little left on the orginal warranty. So he bought from the local ford dealer what the thought was the (cadilac) plan. Bumper to bumper. This was on a almost brand new Ford Exployer. Needless to say it broke down fast in a different state and I had to go get him. Pulled to a local Ford dealer in NC they looked thru the warranty and told him nothing was covered. Cost him 850.00 to get it back home and straight to the dealer it went. I honestly thought they was gonna put him in jail over it. LOL There reason well if you would have spent another 850.00 you would have been covered??????????? So no I dont buy extended nothing anylonger. Its a scam for sure. Now wanna know somthing else scary call you Cell phone dealer and ask them about the plan you have on your phone. There free replacement if you buy insurance will cost you the same amout if you had to go by a new one. I know I got caught up in that one myself. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I agree. I never buy warrantees because nothing has ever broken down within an unreasonable time frame if you know what i mean. i cant see paying an extra this or that only for someone to tell me well THIS isnt covered but everything else that isnt wrong is. LOL! when my stuff breaks i just get new stuff. I learned this the hard way paying for "insurance" on a cell phone. i had the phone 3 years, paid insurance each month with the bill not realizing what a waste it was. needless to say i still have the phone. now at 4.99 a month i have spent 180.00 for insurance on a phone i havent lost or dropped or had stolen....i could have bought myself a new phone with that lol! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Yeah, I've learned my lesson for sure. The kicker with this one was that the service record on this washer (from online reviews and the service guy) was supposed to be great! I shoulda just bought a cheapy washer! ![]()

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I disagree with not purchasing a warranty on some things, to an extent. i.e.; in 2005 we had an inground fiberglass pool installed. It came with a heater, a filter, an lcd light, a computer, and a chlorinator. All very expensive items, similar to household appliances. In 2006, the chlorinator didnt work when we opened the pool for the summer. One call and the guys were here helping us to fix it. In 2007, the LCD light didnt work when we opened the pool for the summer. This was a nightmare to get anyone to help us with, but thats because the manufacturer sent us for warranty work to a local store where we did not buy the pool or equipment from. I raised hell to both the local store and then the manufacturer. Long story short, they walked DH through disconnecting it himself and 4-6 weeks later, a brand new lite arrived. We have to pay $100 to our pool guy to install it (he is an electrician where DH is not) but otherwise a $1500 + item was covered. I dont normally buy the extended warranties from Circuitcity and Best Buy, especially on electronics. But it depends on the item. How much use and wear and tear does it get? How much was the original item cost? How much does the warranty cost in relation? What are the clauses? See they ask you at check out when there are people in line behind you so you can't review and then you impulse buy. Bad bad bad. My two cents... |
