Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hello fellow sleever!! I'm sorry you're struggling, and I can start to see a slowdown in my world as well. The first thing I can think of is getting back to the "tool". That darn "regular food" concept is a killer for me, as I can tolerate a lot of things, and see myself slipping back into the carbs easily. As a matter of fact, I use myfitnesspal.com to count calories and to my HUGE surprise, more than 50% of my calories in the last month have been carbohydrate :O. Holy cats!! I dug out my sleeve book from the shelf from my surgeon and nothing I'm eating is right. That may be your difficulty, so I suggest you track, measure and calculate what you're eating immediately. I see you have some difficulty with excercise, seems to me that walking is pretty good for everyone, even with aches and pains. I would also suggest a local pool for some aerobics or laps. I would assume with a back injury that you can still do some light weight training for your arms, shoulder and stomach muscles. You got this!!

IMHO the biggest advantage of RNY over sleeve is that it kind of forces us to change our food choices. If you go back to eating "regular" foods, and those foods are what you ate before the surgery, then they're the same foods that got you overweight in the first place.

With the sleeve you have to make better choices of what foods you are going to eat. As Nursesrock says, try charting your food intake and see where you are. You still need to be getting 60G of LEAN protein, low fat and carbs, and plenty of water. Believe it or not, if you don't drink enough water you won't lose weight.

Go back through all the paperwork you surgeon gave you and see if there's a list of foods you should be eating. Or just follow us! We're always talking about what is good to eat.

Smile Start back at the basics!

I think everyone misunderstood, what I meant by regular foods,What I was told to eat,was protein first, then veg.s,or fruits, and if I have room a small portion of carbs.I neglected to say, that my Mom passed away in June,we had just moved her closer to us,so that, was a
'blow to my concentration on the program, fora few weeks,as I am an only child.By regular foods,I meant not totally survive on protein shakes,as before, just looking at the container, activated my gag reflux!I was given a list of foods, which I go by,veg.s,fruits, protein meats, protein dairy and nuts, and small amt. of fats.Thank you so much, for your help, the fact, that you responded ,means a lot. This sometimes is a lonely journey.

Since you have been given a list of what to eat and are following it, measure out your foods to make sure your portions are correct.
Here's a good post to read to help you with the concept of what happens to your pouch and absorbtion after surgery. Granted, the article explains about RNY, but basically, the same happens to sleeves.
Sleevers have a greater tolerance of some types of food than RNY bypass so, it's all the more important to make sure of your portions and the balance of nutrients and keep track of them.
Good luck.

Oh I know what you mean about the protein shakes, I couldn't wait to get to solid foods so I could get my protein from meat instead of shakes. Those things are horrible!

So you are still grieving for your mother. It's very painful and doesn't just go away overnight. In fact, it will never go away entirely, you just learn how to live with the loss. I would think that being an "only" probably makes it worse because you don't have siblings to share your feelings with. Even though you may think you are over the loss, you may be reacting in ways you aren't aware of. Many of us are emotional eaters and turned to food for comfort. The only way you can be sure is to start writing down every bite and totalling it up at the end of the day to see if you are on track.

Please stick around and talk to us. We're a very friendly group and we like to help each other on this journey. Plus, this board needs more sleevers

Thumbs up Back to Basics!

Actually today has been a much better day!Thank you God!For the first time in several weeks,I did not feel ,"out of control".I have been striving to 'DETOX",myself, from eating carbs.Just about, accomplished, the first days of cravings. My appetite has diminished,so much already. Now,I need to work on my water requirements. As suggested,I reacquainted myself with the surgeons handbook, for sleevers.I needed to refresh my memory, and find where I was messing up.Will keep trying and will keep everyone up to date, with my working the plan.Wish me well!

Congrats on getting yourself in detox! I'm sorry about the loss of your mom and can certainly identify with the blow that has been to you. I lost my mom in September... 1 month out from surgery and things that had been going really good took a turn for the worse. This forum of friends have been a huge support in my grieving and healing process. They have stood by me through numerous rough patches since I began this journey back in February. This needn't be a lonely journey... we're here for ya. Hugs
