Well, things didn't go too well  . I have a 10 lb. lifting restriction, so I wasn't allwoed to admit pts in case they fall, pass out, etc... So instead they scheduled me to scrub ALL day  !!!! How stupid is that? First day back and I'm expected to stand ALL day?! I tried it and lasted about 3 hours and all of a sudden mid-case, I had to sit down and got all flushed and light headed. They were so short staffed that nobody even got lunches today, so if I wouldn't have walked out and said I can't do this, I wouldn't have even gotten a break !!! So tomorrow we're trying a different approach and if that doesn't work they are willing to work with me  . That was my biggest fear because I need to work. I'm a single mom and have no money in the bank and simply cannot live on disability alone. So I am blessed in this reguard (them letting me do something). The thing is I feel fine, but I was standing for almost 5 hours. We had a late start today but I stood from 7am til about 12:30 and it was the standing that did me in. I just couldn't do it anymore. That was the longest I've stood in over two weeks, but they're so short staffed I guess it didn't matter. But of course every nurse I worked with said when they saw my name on the schedule for that job they knew it was too much too soon. Thankfully they let me sit and I basically got paid the last 2 hours of the day to sit there and do nothing to 'recover'. I know tomorrow will be better, my job matches my abilities. Scrubing too soon was my biggest fear and it came true! I just didn't think it would come true THAT soon!

I think it would have been hard for me to stand all day as early out as you are. I was still feeling weak and light headed from the adjustment to such low calories at that point, not to mention the surgical recovery. I am glad they are willing to work with you. It is hard to know you have no choice but work even though you feel lousey. I hope you feel better soon. Take care.

Sorry to hear this happened, I can remember that early out and I know for sure I would not have been able to do it as long as you did! Take it easy on yourself, you are still going to be healing on the inside for a few more months.
