Wink Valentine's Treats....

I think I'll go for the hearts with the sayings, lol....

Sweet words and candy kisses

We humans do so love a reason to eat candy, don't we? Nearly all of our holidays afford us an excuse to indulge our sweet tooth, if at least for a day. As Valentine's Day rolls around each year, many paramours hope that the way to their lover's heart is through that very sweet tooth, purchasing oodles and oodles of chocolate kisses and candy hearts.
Whether candy will sweeten the love deal... well, that really depends on the individual. But whether a dose of calories and fat is worth the health risk depends upon the nutritional content of the sweet treat you choose to give your sugarbear. So, how do a couple of the most popular choices compare?
Conversation hearts

250 billion candy conversation hearts have pumped out of the New England Confectionary Company since the turn of the 20th century. Stamped with those unforgettably succinct messages of love or rejection - Be Mine, Love Me, No Way - Sweethearts have been a Valentine standby for awhile now. Each tiny wafer is made from sugar, gum, corn syrup, cornstarch, and the mysterious "color" and "flavor."
These ingredients get mixed and flattened into a doughy sheet and stamped with their teensy communiqués. Ten new messages are introduced each year, while others become outmoded and are removed from the Sweetheart language. Though by no means healthy, Sweethearts are good for a wink and a giggle at only 3 calories per heart, and zero fat or sodium.
Chocolate kisses

Many potential Valentines melt at the thought of those little tear-drop shaped chocolates, those bite-sized cones of pure chocolate love. Should you wish to bestow Kisses, consider this choice: milk chocolate or dark chocolate? Health-conscious lovers may decide to go the dark side. A bit bitter, a little biting, dark chocolate may be an acquired taste. If your Valentine is not so sweet on dark chocolate's flavour, whisper these sweet nothings in his or her ear:
  • Dark chocolate contains fewer calories on average than milk chocolate. Take Hershey's Kisses Special Dark variety: It has only 180 calories per 9 Kisses, while the Milk Chocolate kind has 230 calories.
  • Dark chocolate may help to reduce "bad" cholesterol and improve blood vessel function. That might get your love's heart racing.
  • Dark chocolate charms with its antioxidant powers, which may protect cells from oxidative damage that can lead to cancer.
At the heart of dark chocolate's cancer-and-high-blood-pressure-busting cred are flavonoids. Flavonoids are plant pigments found in abundance in fruits, vegetables, green tea, red wine, and (luckily for chocoholics) chocolate. Unfortunately, when most kinds of chocolates are processed, the flavonoids are reduced or totally removed. Not so with most dark chocolates.
The sweet and lowdown

Matching calorie -for calorie, you would have to gobble up 80 of those cute, doughy little Sweethearts to equal the number of calories in just 9 Hershey's Milk Chocolate Kisses. Your Sweetheart load would be a bit less when compared to Hershey's Special Dark Chocolate Kisses: To equal 9 Kisses, you'd have to down 60 tiny message hearts. But then there are those dark chocolate health benefits...
Anything for love, right?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

PS I Love You

You feel it in your heart every day but here are eight ways to show your beau how extra-special he really is.

By Jami Moran

1. Cook his favourite meal. Food really is the way to a man’s heart, so make him feel like a king by whipping up his favourite roast chicken and chocolate cheesecake. Bonus: you’ll reap the romantic rewards post-dessert!
2. Get some action. As in movies. He’s watched 27 Dresses and countless other chick flicks for you, so every now and again you’ve got to cave and see a gem like Rambo for him.
3. Try a scalp massage. This one takes little effort but the pay-off can be huge. Run your fingers through his hair or lightly over his close-cropped cut. You know how good it feels at the salon so why not give him the royal treatment?
4. Serve brekkie in bed. A fluffy duvet, bacon and eggs, mimosas and you! It’s like room service, but better.
5. TV together. Yes, Myth Busters, Trailer Park Boys, Holmes on Homes, Survivor Man, Hockey Night in Canada, not your first viewing choices, but it’s all about quality cozy time together on the couch. Tip: if you’re watching Family Guy, don’t ask if they can hear Stewie talking.
6. Get sporty. It doesn’t matter what he’s into—hockey, soccer, baseball, ultimate fighting—take an interest! Get outside and have a game of catch, or surprise him with tickets to see his favourite team play. He does go to the mall and the theatre with you…
7. Indulge his latte love. You know he loves his extra-hot, half-sweet latte, so why not surprise him with one at the office or by picking one up on your way home from grocery shopping Sunday morning. Pair it with a weekend newspaper and you're golden.
8. The sweet embrace. You know how good it makes you feel when he sneaks up behind you and wraps you in his arms; he feels the same way. Tip: plant a few soft, sweet kisses on the back of his neck to add some heat to that hug.

Oh man, those little conversation hearts have always been my favorite candy in the world. I used to eat a bag a day while at work. By the time Valentines was over, all my teeth ached. I would sometimes find an after Valentines sale and stock up on the bags for like a quarter a bag. This year, I haven't even had one. I haven't even wanted one. We always have a bowl of them sitting out at work, but they haven't tempted me. YAY!!! I love it.

I wake up this morning, my husband has bought me a bar of dark chocolate. I looked at the back and I can have half a little square, a whole square is 19g of sugar, my god is he out of his mind. I stay with my 7g rule, not pushing it.

Red face Happy Valentines Day!!

Erin your first post totally made me DROOL!!! STop it!! I love candy!! But good to note which is the lesser of the two evils for sure!!

Second post made me want to be romantic!! Good thing we already have plans for an amazing romantic dinner at the Rude Native with Nancy and Robert. We are going on a double date.I am so looking forward to it. It will be so romantic, fun and we will have great food to boot!!

It doesnt get better than this. If I am dying for chocolate I will grab one pce of russel stover sugar free but so far its not been an issue.

Erin I hope you have a wonderful VALENTINES... which one are you doing for your man??
