Default i AM the same person....

This journey is not without its ups & downs...and as I get closer to goal, I find people treating me differently. I hate that we live in such a stereotypical society where extra pounds mean something to people....

FOR THE RECORD: I AM THE SAME PERSON I ALWAYS WAS!!!

A girlfriend of mine mentioned losing the weight will make people more out-going...but I never had any esteem problems to start with.....if you didn't like me, I LOST NO SLEEP OVER IT.

I noticed it at the conference I attended recently in Vegas...and I've noticed it with other people too (no one in my immediate family)...I guess losing the weight makes me more approachable....I dunno...?!?!?

It's frustrating how people who have NEVER had to struggle with their weight don't understand those of us who have fought it our entire life.

Just had to get that off my chest....or what's left of it!!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Kath - I hear ya! I dont feel like I've changed but I get comments all the time about how I've changed ????? Apparently I carry myself differently, smile more, and seem more confident -- I say apparently coz I really dont notice these differences in myself. I also wonder if the attitude (if you didn't like me, I LOST NO SLEEP OVER IT. ) comes from the negative experiences we go thru as large people; I also developed this over time.

It is shocking how people treat us diff. Be it good or bad. People smile at me who never noticed me, and others snub thier nose as if I think I'm better some how. I try to tell myself consider the source but it easier said than done. You look so damn good I would just relish in that!!!

I like the red!

Yeah, people don't know how to relate sometimes!

I'm glad you didn't have the insecurity issue! I did and do!

We are just as special as we were before.

that's the funny thing clancy...I got small before on Phen/Fen....lost 81 pounds after my daughter was born....I've never had esteem issues...I liked who I was...and if others didn't, I didn't give a rat's behind about it....

BUT NOW...it's like...people who wouldn't give me the time of day before...WILL NOW!! I think it speaks largely to the shallowness in society....the media portraying "normal" people as skinny etc....kinda like when Tyra donned the fat suit and went on a date....it just completely sux!

I haven't had my surgery yet, but people here at work are already treating me different in anticipation of me being skinny (hopefully.) They all are saying how my bubbly attitude will go away and I will become over confident and snobbish. Where do they get that? I have never been a snob and I NEVER will be. I have been heavy for most of my life and to treat a person different because of their weight is just insane. I am not looking forward to the different attitudes I will be getting, but I do have several close friends here, who say to forget the other people...they were never my friends to begin with, they liked me when I was fat, but when I become skinnier than them, they become jealous... so let them be jealous...

Does any of that make sense?

As I have started this process I have tried to be more conscious of how others treat me. I have been obese for 14 years and openly snubbed 3 times. (which I didn't think was too bad) But what I really notice is that I am IGNORED. It seems when you are obese you become invisible to those around you- they don't make eye contact. I am very social and outgoing and consider myself pretty confident, so it will be interesting to see if the invisibility goes away as my pounds do!

This conversation reminds me of a story I heard on the news this morning. A woman who obviously obese did a kind of "experiment " If you will. She rode on the subway carrying a book with the cover clearly visible. The title of the book was Fat people...Can you get fat by sitting next to someone who is obese? She said the person next to her saw the title and literally ran to the back of the train as if to avoid "catching" the fat virus. How rediculous!! Honey, if fat was a communicable disease, there are plenty of thin , snobby chicks I would like to give it to LOL. What happened to the time when a "curvy" woman was appreciated like in the time of Leonardo DiVinci and other great artists. When people have rude comments I just say "don't be hating because I can at least find my butt and you're wondering where yours left to!"
I'm bold like that
