I thought I was safe, even got the flu shot this year, but got the Flu anyway, I'm miserable, headache, chills, congestion and worst of all a realy bad cough and sore throat. My lower left incision is killing me from coughing, any advise?? Went to the PCP today and they confirmed its the viral flu, as if I didn't already know, and said pretty much ahs to run its course, take tylenol, which dosn't do anything really. I've bumped up my fluid intake but with this damn sore throat it's not easy. HELP...

Awww ((((((HUGS)))))) Keep a pillow to your side when coughing, it may help in easing the pain. As for the rest, you're doing the right thing, get as much rest as you can. Hang in there, hope you feel better soon.

Today is day number 8 with this "shit" sorry, I feel ok today, it sucks so bad. As doc said keep a pillow on you when you cough,fluids and tylenol. I took a small dose of Nyquil,but I am way out,I do NOT rec. it to you unless you pcp says ok. Nose drops were a godsend for me though, I cannot sleep if my nose is plugged........feel better soon. Kathy

Dont know it its the flu but me my husband and my two little guys all have been sick since sunday evening. Fevers, cough, runny nose head congestion you name it. All upper respiratory crap....The kids and myself were on vacation all week...yea some vacation but at least i didnt miss any work and they didnt miss any school. Now i wake up and there is SNOW everywhere....ugh....i know they are going to want to play in it. This week has sucked big time. I hate the snow, dont even think it looks pretty. I should have moved to Florida when i had the chance...oh well. Enough complaining. Hope everyone else is feeling better. Im doing much better today although nose is still stuffy and slight cough.

Yowch! I had a terrible cough after surgery and thought it was going to split me in two! I agree with the doc- I would sit up, lean forward a bit, put a pillow on my tummy and cough away. It still hurt but was much more bearable. Of course drink, drink, drink. With all the drainage I was getting nauseous, so I resorted to a spit cup for all the secretions (gross!) but that way I would not swallow unnecessary fluids when I needed water and food!
