Yay! What a great report! I just got my notice for my six month check up -- but I haven't done as good as you! I've been bouncing on the same ten pounds for a month now -- stuck in the 190's -- closer to getting out but not yet -- I don't think I'll make it to 100 pounds down before my six month check up -- You are definitely a STAR!! |

| That's super Kath! You are a model patient I'm sure. I filled out a questionnaire for my surgeon to do the seminars but didn't get a response. I think it would be great to reach out to others like that. Congrats.

Christie...sent you a PM, but I wanted to post some of it here....it may help others!!
everyone I have talked to, including my surgeon, says my progress is NOT normal....all my labs are good...but I have stuck to the plan....to the point of being anal about it.....I COMPLETELY avoid carbs if I can help it...no bread, no pasta, rice, potatos, tortillas....I limit carbs BIG time...and everything is low fat...I push WATER AND PROTEIN...that's been my key...
Daily...
Breakfast - usually yogurt, a protein shake, a protein bar....and coffee...I have not avoided caffeine at all
Lunch - usually a lean cuisine...something with protein and a GREEN vegetable...nothing with rice or pasta....
snack - special k protein bar or quaker mini cakes...I've tried Atkins bars too, but I don't handle sugar alcohols well at all,,,honestly, I try to avoid snacks unless I can help it...I'm trying to stick to 3 meals a day. A lot of surgeons have their patients eating 6 or 7 meals a day....my surgeon started us off where he wanted us to end up....3 meals a day...
Dinner- when I first started regular food, my surgeon had us eating 2 meals a day and drinking one....sometimes I still do this...protein shake at night...and lots of water....sometimes I cook...grilled chicken and veggies...we went out to eat mexican food last night and I shared fajitas with hubby...I ate the chicken, cheese, beans and beef....no tortilla..no chips or quacamole...and VERY light on the sour cream
I don't know that the is anything magic to what I've done...I try to hit the gym at least 2 times a week....I still have alcoholic drinks on occasion....I TRULY push the protein and water...I avoid any proteins high in fat...very few nuts....no peanut butter....I'm limiting fats with carbs...so sometimes, it seems like there is nothing I can eat..!!! I do NOT eat salads....lettus is non caloric and just takes up space...PROTEIN first, veggies 2nd, and carbs last (if my pouch still has any room, which it usually doesn't!!) I don't do ANY fast food anymore...and I watch the frozen meal labels VERY carefully...many are loaded in sodium & carbs....I pick the ones high in protein, low in carbs/fat/calories...so it narrows your variety SUBSTANTIALLY.
Ever so often, I eat things I probably shouldn't. When we order pizza, I just eat the toppings off. And don't get me wrong...I would kill for a cheeseburger sometimes!!!
I lost 65 pounds the first 3 months...I've only lost 38 pounds the last 3 months...so mine has slowed down a lot too....if you count the skin I need to have removed, I'm pretty close to goal.....if I don't lose another pound, I think I would be happy....
