| freaking out
I am 9.5 months post op. I have lost 94 lbs. that is awesome and i am proud of myself. Here is my issue. The minute I feel full I am scared to death I am stretching my pouch. I know I need to feel full, but the feeling is scaring me. I don't want to gain my weight back. Is there any words of wisdom out there?
Kelly

Congratulations on your wonderful weight loss!!
You're doing fine.
How much can you eat to feel full? One cup? Two cups?
Think back to how much you were eating pre op. There is nooooo way you can eat that much now, so unless you graze constantly on high calorie (but low in volume) types of food, you can regain to pre op.
You are fortunate that you can feel the *full* feeling now, so you know where to stop. Your pouch is expected to become able to accomodate 4-6oz of food per sitting a year or two out from your surgery. If your pouch could hold only the golf ball size food per sitting for life, you will be in serious danger of not being able to get in the nutrition you require throughout your life. Don't worry about stretching your pouch, so long as are careful in choosing healthy nutritious food and stop when you feel full, and exercise well, you'll be fine.

Some patients never get the "full" feeling. I know it really never hits me. Sometimes it registers, sometimes it doesn't. So I have to be mentally aware of the quantity of food I'm eating. Portion control is important for me. Not every patient is identical in the way they respond to WLS. So

"glicth on site" caused comments to be sent prematurely. I was saying that: So a mental attitude is important in your daily regimine. Proper protein intake, proper protein intake, fruits and veggies, vitamins, calcium citrate, and exercise--all of these are the components of successful surgery. The surgery itself won't cure anyone's total weight problem. DAVE

I Was At Meeting The Other Nite And These Girls Who Are 2 Yrs And More Out Were Complaining That It Takes Alot For Them To Be Full. So If We Were To Keep Eating Till We Get That Feeling Later On In Years When It Takes More For Us To Get Full Wouldnt WE Gain Wt? Thats What Some Of These Girls Are Experiencing And Has Me Worried To Hell. I Also Read An Article That We Are Not Suppose To Eat Till We Get The Full Feeling. That We Have To Just Measure The Portion And Stop. I Just Hear To Many Different Things

Those post ops who "know the full feeling" probably know if from previous experience. I've heard many post ops at support meetings say:" I had this feeling I was full, but was not really sure. I had one more bit because ...... looked so good, and then I threw up". That's how many know the feeling.

My surgeon is a miracle worker... lol Just so you know they use a part of the stomach that doesnt easily stretch. The surgery has been improved in that way so dont worry so much.
