Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test Do any of you think this would work? My friend is 2 yrs post-op RNY and has gained back half of what she lost in the last 8 months. She is back on diabetic meds as a result. When I try to talk to her about bypass food choices she becomes defensive and says her pouch never worked (it must have if she lost 80 something pounds after the surgery), she never dumps or feels full. I know I should probally butt-out, but it is such a shame...she really is lost. She has not been to see her surgeon for as long as I have known her. She refuses to since he gave her a weight he wanted her down to. I think she is depressed. I was thinking of printing this out for her... what do you think? Thanks

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | it is sad, you hear of people gaining their weight back, which in my opinion could be other underlaying problems that maybe they didnt touch on with the shrink?? i know back that long ago when you had surgery they didnt make you do as much with the shrink. i am sure she is thankful that you are concerned for her, but in this case i am not sure anything you do will make a difference, good luck and i wish her my best...

We will help her as much as we can, if she decides to post. Like Kenyar siad if the tool is used right it works. She maybe needs t reset her tool again. She will have so much support here and the people are wonderful and understanding.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | To Be Honest With You She Can Take It One Of Two Ways... 1) Your A Concerned Friend & Have All Good Intentions For Her Well Being 2) Your Being Pushy Since You Just Had The Surgery.. To Tell The Truth I Would Definitely Give It To Her As Well... You Know What Your Intentions Are.. She May Realize That Too.............. With That Said, If I Ever Fell Off Any Weight Loss Method, I Sure Hope I Have A Friend Like You Around To Support Me.. Lol, |

| Super Moderator | Since she's 2.5 years out, the pouch test is one thing she can try. She should also review the Pouch Rules as not following that is probably one of the reasons she's regained. Ask (or just watch if you have the chance to eat together), if she drinks with her meals or immediately after eating rather than wait an hour, as that will wash the food out of her pouch, which will prevent her from getting the full feeling. She also needs to get help for her depression, as depression often gets in the way of weight loss. If she says that she never dumps (which is actually something you should not depend on) and never feels full, and can eat over 6oz in one sitting (without drinking at the same time, or immediately after the meal instead of waiting one hour), then her stoma may actually be larger than it should be, so she may need to get a scope done. These are some things that come to mind. So long as her tool is intact, she should be able to lose again, and get to goal, but since it's over two years since her surgery, it is going to take a lot more work than immediately post op, and will need to stick to the eating rules and get in plenty of exercise.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | what doc said is a biggie....with regain the medical community often doesn't want to look at doing tests to see why...simple order of the day a swallow test and an endoscope can find out quick if it's a large stoma...a HUGE issue post op that they do not--as I was told-- consider a "surgery failure" and therefore don't 'fix'.
