Unhappy just not losing

I had my surgery Jan 28th and have only lost 22lbs. I have followed my diet to a T. I have to go back to work in a couple of weeks and I'm starting to get depressed.I ride my exercixe bike and work out with hand weights. I sometimes feel I could of lost more weight by just cutting out carbs and not even had the surgery.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

maybe you need to up your fluids or protein? its tough when we hit stalls. have you tried on any of your old clothes? usually when we are not losing lbs we are losing inches. hang in there.

ps. maybe post what you eat in a typical day including your fluids and someone can suggest something to help?

22lbs in four weeks!!! WOW, that's wonderful.

Let's do some arithmetic. One year is 52 weeks, or, 13x4. So, 22 x13 = 286 !!!
Your ticker says you started out at 222 lbs, so......if you kept losing at this rate, you are going to disappear completely then some, by the time your first post op year is up. Um....do you want that to happen????

Now, you know, the *average* losing curve is, half of your excess weight in the first 6 months (that's 26 weeks, actually); one half of the the next half, in other words one quarter in the following 6 months, and the last quarter past the one year mark and before your two year mark.

So, another arithmetic. Your ticker says you want to lose 102lbs. Half of that is 51lbs. That means, your expected losing curve is 51lbs by July 28th this summer. Divide the 51 by 26 weeks, and that's just under 2lbs per week. So, as far as projected calculation goes, you are expected to lose 2lbs or so in one week, total 8lbs in 4 weeks...but, you've done 14lbs better than that.
I sure think that's absolutely mag, you couldn't have done this if you hadn't followed your surgeon's instructions to a T.

Just make sure that you keep up your protein and fluids as you've been instructed, along with the exercise, and your losing curve stays above the projected curve, then you'll arrive at goal much earlier than your surgeon expects you to.

((((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

I had surgery on Jan. 29th and I've only lost 18 lbs. I stalled for over 2 weeks. I just recently started losing again, ironically the week I got TOM. I'm just happy to be losing again. I learned from reading these posts to not get too disappointed and be patient because it happens to EVERYONE!!!
You sound like you're doing great, keep up the good work!

Doc, you're always SO uplifting. We always seem to lose sight of the stats!! And on a side note Rinehart, "typically" the more you have to lose, the faster it comes off. It looks as though you only wanted to lose about 120 pounds, so you're right on schedule. I know it gets sooo frustrating when it just stalls though. I'm almost 10 months out now, and I just don't let it bother me anymore. I'm not at goal, but even if I don't lose another pound, I feel soooo much better about me! And physically I feel WONDERFUL. And THAT'S why I had the surgery. Not to be "skinny and cute", but to feel better. Keep your chin up, it WILL come off, I promise!!!

Just what everyone else said, dont get discouraged, we didnt pack these pounds on in one or 2 months so losing them all within a few isnt gonna happen either, the more weight you have to lose the faster you lose in the begining. You were alot smaller then most just like I was and look at me I am 9 pounds from goal 7 months out and trust me I wasnt losing huge chunks of weight in the beginning either, it will come off just keep doing what you are suppose to be doig

i agree you have done great, it is really frustrating when we stall, but you are losing inches and your body has to catch up, dont worry if you continue the hard work the scale will move!
