Unhappy Update

Well I have not been on the board much since my open rny on 2-13-08. My one week check up they gave me 2 liters of fluid and my 2 wk I had to have another 2 liters of fluid. My blood sugars are totally out of whack and I cannot drink enough to keep hydrated. I am not loosing weight and I am very discouraged and depressed. The only good thing is I am not throwing up! If any one has been here or knows how to over come my issues please help!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I am sorry to hear you are having difficulties. I have not had surgery so I can not relate in that aspect but I do know how it feels to do something to lose weight and not being successful It may be your body just needs some adjustment time. You'll get through this. Sorry I have no advice just (((HUGS))). Take care of yourself and don't be too hard on yourself it's only the beginning

Sorry to hear that you are not doing to well, hang in there and I am sure it will all come together for you. As for the fliud intake try to sip liquids from a 1 oz containter and sip them in 15 min intervals I am sure it will help with the intake. At first I had a hard time getting in the required amounts it take about a month before I was able to do the 64oz. It will get better.

Sarah, I am so sorry this has been so hard on you. I'm guessing your surgery was more involved because of the prior gastric surgery plus this surgery ended up being open! Your poor body has been through so much and needs time to heal and adjust. Hang in there, it sounds like you have an excellent surgeon who is taking good care of you. We are all pulling for you to feel better!! The weight will come off, its just a matter of time.

((((((HUGS))))))) Hang in there.
You need to be very very diligent with your liquids, it's your dehydration that is making your blood sugar levels totally out of whack, together with everything else.
Our water in-out balance is around 70-80 oz everything considered, and about 30 of this, we get from what's in food itself. However, post op, your food intake is greatly reduced, so it's safer to consider that intake via food is almost nil. That means you really really need to oush the 64oz, which I know is tough, especially early out.
Dehydration will make you sluggish, and it can make you depressive, too, because your body doesn't have enough H2O to keep your system burning and going.

Patience seems to be the key, be sure to put youself and your needs ahead of everything else, especially now.
(((((HUGS))))))

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. Post-op I stalled for weeks. I actually gained when I first got home, so I think it's pretty normal. I just recently started losing again, so hang in there, your time will come!
