Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass   |  I am slightly depressed. My doc suggested WLS for me in Feb 07. I could not get into the required 6 months of classes until August 07, which ended in Feb 08. Since then I had jumped thru all the hoops and had all the clearances I needed for the paperwork to be sent to the referral dept. I called the MD office Friday afternoon and the nurse said her co-worker "should" have sent in the paperwork, but she didn't see that it had yet. I asked her to please call me back. She never did.  THEN I got a call Sat. from my pharmacist, asking if I was going to pick up the Glucophage they filled for me earlier in the week. "What Glucophage???" MY DOCTOR'S OFFICE DIDN'T CALL ME TO TELL ME I HAD TO START GLUCOPHAGE!!!! I have been snapping at my family and finally my daughter, who is almost 12, said, "Mom, I hate to ask, but are you going to start your period?" "NO! IT IS MY FRIKKING DOCTOR! GRRRR!!!" I told her it wasn't her. I really wanted to get this surgery done while everything was fresh in my mind and (more importantly) so I would be all healed for the girl's grade school graduation in mid-June. If the surgery is not done by early May, it will wait until June, after the event.  Thanks for your ear.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Vivkie is gonna kill me for this one! BUT...call them every single day and ask if it was done and then ask if they have confirmation of it! I got a phone call from the insurance co saying that I was approved, so naturally I called the surgeons office and she was on vacation with no one covering her desk...apparently! So, I sent an email off to the office manager and had a call back the next day with my surgery date. Sometimes you really have to get involved. I am not saying that they are negligant, but they see hundreds of people doing the same thing as you and its like a waiting game. Good Luck to you! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | How frustrating for you. Maybe it's time to doctor shop (after you get thru the surgery, etc) I'm hoping this was not normal for their office. While the auth thing is paramount in your mind, I'm more concerned about the Rx and their not telling you you need it~~are we sure they called in the RX for the right patient? Good luck - watch them closely

If I didnt have some type of experience in the medical field i would be SOL. Judijo keep on top of them like Kim suggested. This is your time your dealing with not theres. |
