Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | dumb questions # 463 for kath....most of the calculators you can use (including our new one here) use round numbers to figure your BMI....so what is it if you are like 5 feet 7.75 inches....do you use the 5'7'' as your mark...or 5'8''? I've always used the 5'7'' one....is that right or wrong? Last edited by Trulykath : 03-13-2008 at 04:57 PM. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | You could use both to figure the BMI, then take the average, and enter that manually.

| Super Moderator | If it's closer to the upper end, use the higher number, if closer to the lower end, the lower number. If in the middle, the higher number is okay. The exact equation is: Divide your weight in lbs by the square of your height in inches, then multiply by 702. For those with the metric system. Divide your weight in kilograms by the square of your height in meter.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | GOOD LORD doc...I need a calculator! LOL....I just used the upper end...since I'm closer to it anyway...it did bring my BMI down a bit, as I've been using 5'7'' this whole time....! |

| Super Moderator | Heehee, of course I use a calculator too. Funny stuff yesterday with the calculation. One of the nurses was calculating the BMI of a newly admitted patient. She had a caluculator out, calculated the square of the height (it's metric here) then jotted down the number on the back of her hand and continued to punch in the weight and divide with the number she'd memo'd. I was watching her and asked "Why are you doing that? All you have to do is divide the weight twice by the height, it's much simpler...." "But that's how we learned to do it..." ![]() ![]() ![]()
