Default Spinoff on Kenya's post: I am so amazed....

I am 3 weeks post op and before surgery, I thought this was going to be a drop in the bucket. I would have surgery, not feel hungry, loose my weight and be done. I didn't feel I had major "food issues", I thought I was going to be the one to conquer it all..... HAHAHAHAHAHAH

let me tell you. I MISS food like crazy. I want to eat what I used to eat. I want to enjoy the taste, I want to east MORE!!! I am in so much shock right now its crazy. I really thought that I did not have food issues, I thought I was strong and could easily overcome the urge to eat. I have never been so wrong in my life. I struggle everyday to overcome my cravings and to feel ok about what I am eating (and I think I eat alot for 3 weeks postop). I like the food I am eating, its just not as emotionally satisfying as a big ol burger and crispy fries, or a lushes steak, potato and yummy ceasar salad and don't forget the appetizer.

I am so sad that I never realized how food was affecting my life.... that it took being 110lbs overweight and a major surgery to start to retrain my brain. I know I will be able to have more foods later, I just need to learn that food is just food.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hi Tami,

I know exactly how you are feeling. My first several posts on here were nothing but complaining and I was major depressed. I learned however that I needed to be patient and take one day at a time. I really didn't start losing weight until week 4 post op and it is slowing coming down now. Food is still a problem for me so I still would rather not eat but I push the protein drinks. The fatigue should decrease in the next 2 weeks or so.

Hang in there. It will get better.

I think we mourn the loss of our "friend".....it's normal...you will find a routine...and be able to eat more along the way...and it DOES get better...!

You had to realize how food was affecting your life--you had WLS. Food is what got most of in trouble, or it was an emotion that was satisfied with food. Just be glad you're on the road to better health, and adjust to missing some of "your food dreams". It's all part of the process for success from surgery.

Me too. I never realized how strong 'head hunger' was and how it can totally rule your thoughts. It's getting slightly better now, but I was really tested this week. At work Tuesday, there were leftovers from a get together and it was 4 different kinds of cheesecake and a carrot cake. Today it was someones birthday and they had a cake. 3 months ago, I would have been all over it, but I didn't even touch a bite. I was proud of myself, but I thought about it!

Tami,
I think we have all felt like you before surgery and then BAM!!!!!!!! we are struck with reality. I know even 8 months out I still struggle, like today I so wanted my old fav of a giant burrito from my fav place went bought took 2 bites and OMG the pain the horror the agony I literaly walked out doubled over. Luckily my gils that work there know me well from before surgery and know I had surgery and didnt even charge me for the food. What sweeties anyways we all deal in time but some days just suck

The one thing you will gain from this......is the taste for good food. LOL. If its not good food you will know it. Right now your in a hard stage but I promise it will get much easier to deal with. Take care.

this part is rough. dont get me wrong the entire journey is rough but where you are is especially rough. your brain and your stomach will be more in tune with eachother further out. until then, come on here and vent. do whatever you need to do to get past the urge. and remember you are not alone
