Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass   |  My Father In Law So today my Mom in law took my FIL to the doctors and he was diagnosed with Alztimer (sp). He is 70 years old and still works becue finacialy he needs to, my MIL is very upset and worried about what to do. Will and I have been talking and we have decided that when his re-enlistment comes up in June he will re-enlist for Ft Hood Texas, thats where he grew up and thats where his mom and step dad live, I am happy to go home, this means I can take care of my Grandma and my in laws, the only down side is Ft Hood deploys alot..they are always gone training or in Iraq/Afganastan. I guess if I have to be without Will the best place to be is around family right? Anyways just had to get that off my chest  |

I used to oversee an Alzheimers program at a nursing home in my area (my background is nursing - but I'm out of it almost 11 years now). That's one hell of a tough disese - sometimes I think even more so for the caregiver. It would be a good idea for you and MIL to research the disese, the different stages, but mostly research how to deal/care for someone with it. It's a little like careing for someone with depression, in that you have to constantly remind yourself that they don't know what they are doing and can't just 'snap out of it', even thought they may look healthy. There are support groups for caregivers of loved ones with Alzheimers, they are really worth looking into.

Well I was a CNA for 5 years and 3 of those I worked with Alzhiemers patience so I definately know what we will be dealing with, I think thats why this makes me so sad. I know whats coming, I just hope my MIL can handle it all she is 75 and I just think this will devistate her, Today Harold thinks its July...its so sad |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I am sending hugs to you and your family. My dad has become progressively worse with this disease. He will be 90 this coming Sept and thinks he is 82. He got to the place where he was falling all the time so my sister and I along with the Dr agreed he couldn't live alone any more. He is in a private home with 3 others run by a younger couple and has 24 hr supervision. I felt guilty for awhile since I am a nurse however I knew I couldn't pick him off the floor 1 month out of surgery and he is actually adjusting pretty well. I know you and your MIL will go through a lot together and hopefully Will won't be gone too much. Be sure to check out all the support groups including Hospice which has volunteers to help families who just need an hour here or there. Also all Interfaith communities as well. Judy
