Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass   |  I KNEW it was too good to be true.  The gal told me over the phone on Thursday to be at the office at 4. Hub drove me there, across town (i.e. across the San Fernando Valley), and we were there at 3:30. We sat in the car until 3:45, when I walked into the door. Literally. It was locked shut. I looked around for another door. Then I called the office. "What is your name?" "Your appointment was at 3:30. Dr. Paya left. You probably crossed paths on the parking lot." Guys and gals...my appointment was clearly at 4. She told me to be there at 4. Oh, and he only sees patients at this facility on Tuesdays. I have lost a half day's work. No doubt my boss will be upset about my asking for another half day off. I had all kinds of thoughts on the ride home. a lot of crying. the feeling that once again I have been taken advantage of...that it is easier to blame the newbie (the fat chick?) than to just sit tight, have a stick of gum, and wait 20 minutes for a "no-show". (that 20 minute rule is policy where I work) I will try to get a hold of the person who so happily scheduled me improperly and remind her that in my work I see about a dozen women who would qualify for GBS and I COULD be a great reference for this guy, but damn...why now? This isn't revenge on my part...that would be unethical. It is just what I am feeling in my heart at the time a potential patient and I chat. This is gonna take a while for me to get over. I can only hope, for their sake, I get over it before I see them again.

To lose out on work and need more time off, driving so far, sitting there for nothing and then not getting to go to a much anticipated doc visit. There are two GBS specialists within driving distance that my medical group approves. This guy is #2 on their GBS hit parade...the referral department's default is the other guy. I read reviews on both and had to call referral and change to the #2 guy! When I talked to the person Thursday, I told her I specifically changed my referral to her employer, and she seemed taken aback...she mentioned going to my medical groups bariatric program's "people" to bring in more clients. So I guess the person I talked to WAS, if not a supervisor, then at least she is someone active in marketing. Maybe that was the problem...I needed someone at the grass roots and not someone higher up in this guy's food chain. I can assure you I will be speaking to her this week. Man, they better do me right next week.
