| I'm going to confess to you all what I havent' said to anyone here IRL. I am binging sooo badly before my seminar April 9. It's like I keep saying.. well, you can't eat this much longer... or.. that's your favorite, eat that before you can't anymore. Instead of already changing my eating patterns. I havent' gained weight.. been the same weight for several weeks now. .in fact.. 2-3 lbs lighter, but still... Geezzzz. I didn't really want to LOSE weight before my Appt because if they require me to lose a certain amount, I know initially when you start a program you drop several pounds and I want to incorporate that into the amt. they may require me to lose. HOWEVER, I can't get these thoughts out of my head. Is this normal or do I have a screw loose?? I do want to lose the weight, get healthier and change my life.. so what gives???? HELP!!!!!! ![]()

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I think it's normal, especially since you don't have a date yet. Funny how the mind works, like we are going to be droped on a island with no food so eat now!!! I think once things start to fall in place you'll start to shift and not binge, your mind is still trying to wrap around it.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Its very normal. Very Very normal. LOL. I did the same thing. I was allowed to eat what I wanted up until midnight the night before surgery. The week that lead up to it I made sure I eat my favorite foods. I didnt overstuff but I will say I enjoyed every bite I could take. Im not a candy or choclate eater however my favorite candy bar is Almond Joy. I made sure I had one of those to. On a lighter note remember this..... you can have those foods agian at some point but you will not be able to eat as much of it. This surgery ensures moderation. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Are you going to Ellis hospital? I know someone who's going to the seminar April 9th there and your location says upstate NY. If so, don't sweat it. It'll be a couple months before you need to worry about that. The office does medifast. Your doc will tell you how many weeks you have to be on medifast based on your starting weight (mine was 5 weeks - which turned into 6 because of scheduling, Amina who was basically the same weight was 8 weeks, different docs, same office) and you do medifast pre-op. The office requires a 10% weight reduction. I lost 40 lbs even but I'm pretty sure Amina lost even more. Armywife2aerial had the same office too and lost a lot also. Anyway, I'll shut up until you answer and you can ask me questions then if you have any.

| Thanks Everyone.. I realize it's going to be a life AND mindset change. I THINK I'm prepared for it.. won't know until I'm going through it although I feel pretty firm about the decisions I have made. I just look at my babies (1 and 3) and know I'm going to be around a long time for them and live the life I've always wanted. It's just this window of time I'm allowed to eat anything, I've been doing it. I'm not GORGING, just eating all the stuff I know aren't great for me. Fortunately, I haven't put on more weight in the process.. just sort of maintaining. Kelly~ I live outside of Rochester. I used to have that thing say upstate/western NY. I'm not from here (from Atlanta) and I actually consider myself western NY, but everyone who's FROM here says upstate. LOL I always thought upstate was the northeast part of NY state. Anyway.. like I said, I'm outside of Rochester and I'm going to be going to Highland hospital. I'm actually calling today to see about my surgeon. There were 2 doctors at the practice I'm going to and now there's 3. The original 2 are highly skilled and one of them, Dr. O'Malley, seems to be THE doctor in the state of NY to have started laproscopic bypass and he travels around the state teaching other doctors. Another woman on this board had him, and I've talked to several people IRL who have had O'Malley, but no ones even heard of Johnson and no where in his biography and his past experiences does it mention he's done bariatric surgeries. So I'm calling today to get the scoop and may switch doctors. I was told they were all good, but I don't know. Someone here I think.. or possibly another site, told me my surgery was only as good as my doctor, so that really made me stop and think. OK.. I really got off topic but that's what's on my mind this morning.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Yes, totally normal. I did the same thing, even though everyone said that's it's not going to be forever, and that you can eat most of these things someday, I still couldn't get it out of my head that this was going to be the last time I ate my favorites. Now I'm at the point where I can eat most foods again but still find that I don't want them. I can drive right by a McDonalds without wanting anything they have! McDs french fries used to be my downfall, I could eat two large orders of fries in one sitting. Now it turns my stomach if I even think about eating anything from McDonalds or any other fast food place. I actually WANT good healthy food. I like to snack on raw veggies - without any dip even. I'm in love with fresh fruit, and before, you couldn't get me to eat fruit or veggies. So what I'm saying is that it's not so much that you can't eat these foods again (always in moderation though) but that you may find that you don't really want them again. Do try to not overdo the eating before the surgery. It will really help you if you start trying to eat correctly now. So try eating just a bite or two of the foods you are saying goodby to, instead of the whole thing. Good Luck! |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I was at Highland and yes I did have Dr. Omalley. He came highly reccommended to me so that is who I went with. He was even on Oprah a while back when RNY strated getting popular. He does not have the greatest bedside manner and I knew that ahead of time but he is a great surgeon and his credentials are great. I would call and see what you can do. Your at the begining phase and just getting ready to go to the seminar so I cant imagine you cant change now. Just say that is who you want. If you want you can PM me and we can always chat. I just went to Highland last week. Was suppose to see Dr. Omalley casue I thought I had a umbilical hernia. I do but its so small. I had one years ago. Bummer was that he was so backed up I never got to see him. I saw the nurse practisioner and some other dude. But I am very very happy with Dr. Omalley. And yes like the others said its all normal how you are feeling and how you are eating and etc.......Been there done that but like the others also said you will be able to eat again and its not the end. I have pretty much eaten everything like I did prior to surgery but in moderation. It is a lifestyle change and we are given a tool. Like I said, PM me if you want. Best of luck. |
