Thanks for your encouragement, as I have a little ways to go I am glad that I found a place that I can wine (this is the most I have done) and not feel bad about it. I have started to go to a support group through the hospital I will be having my rebirth at.

My wife and I went to the first meeting last Saturday and am I glad we went. I had my concerns laid to rest about having to exercise so much before the surgery. One of the people there had her surgery in Oct. and this was her first time back. The first thing out of this women’s mouth was that the exercising saved her life.

To make a long story short she developed a blood clot and did not say any thing about the pain until she was very infected. The surgeon told her husband and kids a couple of times that she most likely would not make it and to prepare for her passing. She was in a coma for over six weeks and did not leave the hospital until January.

The moral is if she had not gotten her self into the best shape she could her heart most likely would have not put up with the stress. She had the highest praise for the surgeon as he was there 24/ 7 for her. This kind of freak me out hearing this , but than I look at it and remember this hospital did 65 of these surgeries last year and this was the only bad one they had. The best part of it is the hospital has not lost any of the patients from this type of surgery since they started to perform them.

Another thing that I like to hear was that if you have a infection, even as small as a pimple, they will not perform the surgery. Some of the people there were kind of upset because this happened to them, but better safe than sorry.

The only real hurdle I have to over come besides the exercising is the dentists.

“I HATE DENTISTS”

No one has told me I have to see a dentists, but did I say “I HATE DENTISTS”. I think I need to get my teeth fix before I am told to, but “I HATE DENTISTS”. If you have not figured it out yet, I am more afraid of the idea that I need to see a DENTIST than I am the surgery.

Oh well I guess I have done enough rambling and crying.

Thanks For Listening

Ed

Just incase some one does not understand “I HATE DENTISTS”.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I'm getting the feeling you HATE DENTISTS!!! You will do fine...you work up to this and then slowly make your way back to living once it's done...then, once you lose the weight, you look back and realize it all passed so quickly....you will have so much more energy if you do exercise, as crazy as that sounds...and you are actually stronger than most, as you've already been carrying around extra weight...a work-out in and of itself!

It's hard to hear the bad stories, but they are out there. No surgery is 100% safe. That's why it's such a hard decision to make and the reason we all get so nervous. But you need to just be informed and make an educated decision about what's right for you and if the risks out weight the benefits. For me, I'm glad I did it and wouldn't change a thing, but it's easy to say that when things go right. It's good to talk to people and hear their experiences. Pretty soon you'll be telling your own story!

It is scary going into this, but once you get through it, you will definately be like the rest of us...wondering what took you so long to do it! Just have faith in yourself and set descent goals for yourself. You can do it!
By the way...get to the dentist! You want to have a good cleaning and exam before you start with this process, so that you can keep track of anything that is happening due to our calcium absorption. Yeah...I am a "spokesperson" for dentists. LOLOLOL I have been in the dental/medical field for yearsssss! You want that purdy smile to go along with that new body!

You are the first one I have seen talk about having to see a dentist before surgery. I did have all mine fixed before surgery and didnt realize how much I needed my teeth until you enter the chewing everything to mush phase! LOL. I hate dentist to but.... I did tell the man I went to see how scared I was. I ended up with a couple root canals, 2 teeth being pulled and a few filled. I even had the scaling done. If it wasnt for dental insurance I dont know what I would have done. They have changed alot since we were kids. I hope that helps some.

I remember when all my aunts and uncles about the age of 30 getting dentures. I thought that was a part of life. Both my parents by the age of 35 had dentures. They had teeth pulled out that didnt need to be but they thought it was time. LOL.

At least go for the cleaning part and talk to the dentist. Ask your friends who they use and how good they are. Make your decision based on that. All and all you will be chewing alot after you have this surgery done and need the teeth to do it!

Its always good to start some type of excerise before you have this done I will agree. I walked. Walking is good for ya. Take it in short distances at first. You dont have to dive into it and work your self to death. I hope all goes well for you and this is what this board is for is to come talk and vent. Glad to see you posting agian.

Hate as you might, it's in your best health interest that you get your teeth fixed pre op.
First off, there's going to be the calcium supplementing issue, so you want your teeth in the best condition, and needing only maintenance calcium.
Also, if you have any infections, that can cause serious surgical complicatons by passing the bacteria in to your blood stream when your defense is at the weakest because your body needs to concentrate in healing first.

(((((HUGS))))) P.S. I don't like going to the dentist, either, but I do if I must.

I must be the strange one...I LOVE having my teeth cleaned! My husband has really good insurance so I get my teeth cleaned every 4 months. There are dentists and hygenists out that that are very empathetic and sympathetic...just ask around to friends and families. It took me a few years to find the ones that I have and they are awesome. I know a lot of people that have to be pre medicated in order to just get their teeth cleaned because of the fear from the dentist.
