i was reading an article online today which FREAKED ME OUT to say the very least. and of course i didnt save it to my favs so i have nothing to quote or footnote or reference. so i apologize for not having the reference material at hand. i wanted to kind of discuss this topic with you all eventhough most of you are married LOL! the gist of the article was that for those of us who are single and lose weight and find a partner post op, it's really considered "our first" and we become attached eventhough this person may not be the RIGHT person. it was compared to "my hero syndrome". let me see if i can explain. i think what it was saying is, the first person to love you for you, see you for who you are (eventhough they didnt know you when you were heavy) is the person you fall hard for. you are in a vulnerable state after losing mass amounts of weight and living with self esteem issues etc. UM... im sorry but, im in a state of panic right now LOL. because we all know i have a few screws loose to begin with. am i doing this?? is this what this is? how do i know? this article got me thinking about things...which is not good LOL. especially when you were all prepared for my silence for the next few days LOL!!!!!!! i hope i have explained this right. my mind is racing right now...LOL! |

This is just a thought... but, do you think the article freaked you out because you feel that there might be a grain of truth there? As long as you are secure in your choice of partner, I don't think you have anything to worry about! If reading an article makes you question your choices, you might need to spend some time reflecting before diving into a serious commitment (translation: don't elope on the second date). |

Honey you seem some other fellas before you hooked up with Neil. Remember Kaylas dad and a couple other fella's? So lets count them and Neil being number 4. The reason I brought this up is this....... Lord help me for being honest and seeing this first hand. My cousin whom had weight loss surgery did exactly what you just posted. She was dating a man when she had the surgery. He was a very good fella. Much older but a good caring man. When she started losing weight she got rid of him. Telling me at that point she didnt have to date old men any more. She hooked up with this fella I absolutly couldnt stand. She always had alot of friends that would come help her with stuff or just come over for dinner or just to hang out. He run them all off within 2 weeks of his arrival. She fell hard and fast for this man. When she finally woke up from his spell she was in $52,000 debt as a cosigner on his loans for a new Harley and a brand new Mustang. He had moved into her house within 2 weeks of meeting her and she cosigned these loans within 2 months. As soon as she cosigned he quit his job and she had to pick up another one. She tried to go bankrupt but couldnt because of the equity she had in her home. She is now left with a repoed Mustang and responsible for what was left after auction. He kept the motor cycle belive it or not to drive in the sunny Pensylvania area LOL. The moral to this story is.........your not like her. You did have other dealings with men after you started to lose weight. This was her first! This is why when you talked about Kaylas dad to us that time I was agaisnt it. Kenya, if im right this is a different type of man than you normally date? I know my hubby was a very differnent type man than i would normally hook up with. He was SMART! LOL Not kidding. Hes the smartess man I ever dated and It was so different. For once I wasnt the only adult in the relationship when it mattered. You and Neil are gonna be fine. |

My 2 cents. If you really were in the situation as described in the article, I don't think you'll question yourself, nor panic. You'll only poohooo the notion, and go along your way, you won't listen to what others say. Since the article hit you where you think is your weak spot, and got you thinking, that only means that you've got a level head on your shoulders. You're okay. (((((HUGS)))))
