Here is a link to an excellent overview article for PCPs that should also be informative for you. If you have a PCP who is not familiar enough with weightloss surgery, this can be a good summary article that can serve as a starting point.

Ms. Doc,
that was a great piece of facts. All the info was given at my consultation with the clinic with the Bar'tic staff, Dr.
My Dr. and his staff have 2 meeting 2x's a month for interested people in surgery for WL. You meet all the Dr's staff,the PA that is his partner, all the nurses that work with him have had WLS. So they know when you are in the hospital with WLS they understand where you are in comfort and mobillity. Your tour the WLS hospital wing,
surgery room and then in the PM your get to the clinic where you get lab done and meet with the dietician, psych,Dr, insurance people, and its done very professionally.
Maybe thats why its" a center of excellence"

How are you doing by the way, you and your family..good I hope.

Like you Peggysue the doctor I had for my 6 months had meetings at the hospital to help aid in getting ready, but they themselves did not have the surgery but just relyed on their patients progress.
I have learned too from a local group meeting that meets every month where I had my surgery. What a great source...wonderful stories.

You can never have enough information.
