Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | OK I am trying really hard to be positive but for some reason this has been a bad week. I have lost 67 pounds, but not at all the way I gained it. In fact I have only gone down 1 size! Then yesterday my daughter was pushing up my "bat wings" on my upper arm (apparently I have lost a lot there so I already have lovely hanging skin). As she was pushing it she was saying I can't find your bone...... I know I should be happy the weight is coming off, and I am.....but I still look horrible, and in fact I look WORSE. I can't imagine when I lose more, I am going to look like a melting candle. I could just use a few positive words....and none that talk about plastic surgery! LOL |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I know, I have the same feelings at times. I compare my weight/height to others on here and they're in 10's or 12's and I'm STILL in 16's!!! They are loose, but still not small enough for a comfortable 14. It IS discouraging. But bottom line is....I feel SOOO much better. And for that I'm thankful. And the melting candle sysdrome is pretty much what everyone goes thru. We knew this before surgery. That is WAS possible for our skin not to go back to normal. I don't have any words of encouragement except you're doing a great job! It will get better, I promise! ((((HUGS)))) |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I am with the both of you, still in a 16, bat wings, jiggly thighs, my stomach is indescribable!! BUT.. I feel great, most clothing hides it all and the compliments are really giving me a BIG HEAD!!! just kidding about the big head, but they do lift you up! I have even kinda gotten used to my wings, I am wearing baby doll Tshirts and not really caring as much as I did at first! If you dont like the way they look then you dont have to look at them, look away, look away!!!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I don't know your age, but from your picture I would say you are younger than me. That's a plus, younger skin eventually will shrink up some. I too get amazed at the people who are whizzing right by me in sizes, but I know my health has improved tremendoulsy since surgery and my hair is thicker that before surgery too. So that is something to look forward too.

Weight Loss Method - | No words of wisdom or advice because I haven't had surgery to say I know how you feel. However you have to learn to love yourself as you are. It is much easier said than done but look at all the positives in your life now that you have lost 67 lbs! You can move around easier, you don't have as much pain as you used to, you can play with your children easier. Those are all positives. If you want to improve the flab or the all too famous bat wings then do exercises that will tone up or firm those areas more. You are beautiful and special. Don't let a little hanging skin get in the way

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Thank you all- it is just so odd to be losing just a little all over....I sure gained it all in certain spots the first time! I had just assumed I would lose it in those spots as well. As for the skin- I have always said I can still do all I want to do and be healthy with loose skin. But, now that it is happening to me, it's harder to keep that mentality! ![]() |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Kara, I've been missing you! Anyway, I read in 'weight loss surgery for dummies' that the skin, again depending on age and health, does play catch up a little after a while. You lost that 67 pounds pretty quick - so you probably will tighten up some, then lose more, then tighten up some...also, look into body creams that target elasticity, usually a little pricey, but worth a try. I just bought one but I haven't started using it yet - go here to read about it Elastin, skincare, collagen, tropoelastin, anti-aging, skin care, anti aging. No doubt we'll have loose skin, but how much and what we can do...? From what I read in 'dummies', you should not consider plastics until about 2 years from bypass (I guess they figure you lose for about 1 to 1 1/2 years...so 6 months after that??) Give the skin time to catch up a little. But everyone is different. As for the not going down in size - me too for the most part. It was almost 6 weeks before I even really felt a change in my clothes. It's just the last few weeks that pants are loose and tops are really roomy and I'm down almost 50 pounds. Is it possible my clothes were tighter then I thought?? Or had stretched some from always wearing...most likely. So Maybe now instead of being a rrrreeally tight 26 I'm a comfortable 24?? I also think I read by Doc that you lose fat, then build muscle and it takes the body some time to 'reshape' so to speak - it seems to me the further out you are is when you start zooming through sizes. Continued success!
