Default interesting about pre-op diet

I have read a lot of posts about pre-op diet. My surgeon did not require me to be on a diet prior to surgery. I have read in a lot of posts that it was mainly because of the liver which is very important in laproscopic (sp?) which I did not have. Anyway, I read in the Obesity Help mag that those who lose 5-10% of there weight prior to surgery spend less time recovering in the hospital and lose weight faster post op then those who did not diet prior to surgery. So.... for everyone who is on a pre-op diet there are more perks in it then just shrinking the liver so the doc has an easier time operating!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

All Doctors seem to have different requirements, but also, I think some times it has to do with where you carry your weight. When my surgeon met with me for the first time he said he would have no problem doing it laparscopicaly - I'm very hour glass - full hips, full bust, but not so much in the waist. I think if you carry alot of weight in your middle it makes it easier for the Doc if you lose some so he can move around (laparscopic) easier. That woman I ran into the other day said she had had to lose a little - Doctors orders - before because she carried alot in the middle - and we have the same Dr.

I agree with Denise, anatomy has a lot to do with it. Everyone is different and ultimately the decision lies with your surgeon.

I think of it as my 40 lb jump start! I lost 40lbs pre-op and that's 40 I don't have to lose now!
