Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | White rice affects me with a heavy feeling too. But I do like it with Chinese food items, or as a bedding for stir fry, etc. I'll agree brown rice is healthier, but I don't eat white rice daily either.

| I found out in the first year of being type two that white rice is the devil,It is one of the only carbs that send my sugars up over 200 even with about a quarter cup. I did test runs to be sure it was the rice and every time it just ate me up. So for the next four years if I had rice it was only a few fork fulls. Or if I really needed some carbs cause I was crashing. I had one small fork full two days ago and I remember I love it..lol but I wont push the rice I dont trust it. I do like brown rice but I guess I am rice scared.. You know Kenya there are a lot of recipies out there for brown rice and if you cook it not so long and in chicken broth it helps change the taste. I used to eat it that way years ago..

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I was talking to my mom about this b/c she can't do white rice and is 6 years out. She can do all other types of rice but no white rice....especially rice from chinese. We think that it is because white rice clumps together and has a sticky texture compared to other rice!

| Super Moderator | Rice can swell up in your pouch, which is why a lot of post ops can't tolerate it, even many years out. There are some who can, though. I know CraigT can, because I've had many occasions to join him at meals where rice was served in various forms. Of course, he doesn't overdo it, though.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I have made it a few times for dinner and put about 1 tbsp on my plate. I normally put it there for looks and eat whatever meat that we are eating with it. I didnt really have any problems with it, but dont want to eat it. Same goes for noodles. |
