Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Joy what does your Nut and surgeon say you should be eating? Everyones is different, I had a list of what to eat when from mine. I think early out like you I was eating pureed foods, like tuna salad pureed or chicken salad pureed, shrimp salad pureed, But my surgeon was different then the others

First follow what your doc says- 2nd follow what your pouch says! I was able to eat only pureed foods when I was where you are at, so meat wasn't a choice except mushed up tuna salad and so on. Start small, your pouchy will tell you what works and what doesn't. I wasn't able to start normal foods until 6-8weeks after surgery.

Whatever the others say they can eat, you must follow your surgeon and nut's program, not somebody else's program.
Early out, a week, two week's difference in date will make a big difference in the kinds of food you can eat, as the stages go up by one week or two, depending on your surgeon's program.

I almost think you're better off taking it slow. You want your pouch and inside to heal well before trying any tricks! In the meantime, you can start planning a more adventurous diet. When you are ready for meats, you will want to go soft and small in the beginning. I havent had a problem with most meats but chicken can go either way, literally. I do best with crock pot meats - that's the most tender and servings of fish, esp. grilled - yummy. Eggs were on my list of soft foods early out, when you can try them, try scrambled with some of the mexican blend cheese. That had a nice flavor. Are you doing the protein shakes? They were a mainstay the first 2-3 months too. Hang in there, your journey has only just begun

Joy,
I wasn't doing well with food till about 6 weeks, and I still can't have some stuff. You are pretty much right on tract. Yes, everyone is different, but not that many people do eat whole food at 4 weeks out, maybe different types are introduced, but mushy or chopped, and texture has a lot to do with it. I can't eat chicken but I can have pork, how in the world is that possible?? I can't have egg whites but I can have peanut butter . Bottom line...as long as you are content and getting in your nutrition, take your time and go easy. Even now, more than 50 percent of my protein is coming from suppliments (ie: achievone coffee and bullets). And a really really good rule is to only introduce one or two things at a time. If you are craving something, and it's not something you really shouldn't have, try a little, just either make it very moist or very smushed. It's funny, at 4, 5 and 6 weeks you almost feel like you are clueless, you really do. Then as you read more and get more confidence, you start to take baby steps. By 3 months you are a pro, with only the ocassional mishap! Honest, we all felt the same. But keep asking questions. For now just make sure you are getting in what you need in the way of protein, fluids and vitamins.

I too understand your frustration. My Dr. and nut was the same way. But in reality, I think it's the "best" way to start off very slow. It gives your pouch soo much more time to heal. It's just the "head hunger" that's a pain at this point. Plus I had to do a 10 day clear liquid fast before surgery. So yes, I sure was missing "consistancy" of the food. But you'll get there. Hang in there!!! ((((hugs))))
