| Super Moderator | Acutally, absorption isn't as bad as you think. Aim for 1000 kcals now. Your maintenance level will probably about 300-400 more to that in the end. That will still be about half or even less of what you were eating on the average pre op, I would venture to guess. On another note, I am curious. How much did you spend for food then and now? By how many percentage has your food budget gone down? Food good for you are more expensive compared to the *easy* foods, but if your food has gone down because of the decrease in total amount, then you know you can spend some of that on the kinds of food truly good for your body. Or, do the supplements take up that cost now? Have you ever thought about that?

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Doc my food bill has actually went up. I use to spend about 500-600 a month on food and now I spend about 700-1000 a month on food. I buy more fresh fruits and veggies plus more food that is high protein low carb. Before I bought alot of comfort food that was cheap, now I dont do cheap I do healthy. You have to think I am feeding one less adult and I still spend more on food. I dont mind though |

| Super Moderator | Ah, I guess some types of healthy (fresh) foods can be really expensive in Hawai'i. It's a pity that these days, fresh produce is much more expensive than processed food. ![]()

| And have you guys stopped to think that food prices have increased. This also adds to your grocery bill being higher. I was talking to a friend of mine the other day, (she and hubby are both retired) and we were discussing the high cost of food now. Even in the commissary. I told her I was glad summer was just around the corner. Hubby puts in tomatoes and cucumbers and beans. That helps with the food budget a little.
