Unhappy Little depressed here.

I have hardly lost anything so far. The day of surgery I was down to 284 but that was I am sure due to a four day liquid diet. My last weigh in a few weeks before my surgery I was 294 and well with all the fluids when I came home from surgery I was 297 And my scale only says 276.5. I was down to 273 for a day but I am now thinking that was a problem with the scale. So I got rid of all the fluids and was down to around 289 and it seems like its just not coming off. I know my clothing are bigger but I really feel that is from the total weight loss and not just this past pounds. This stuff was my last years summer stuff. I see some of you girls that had your surgery around me and see how much you lost so far and am kinda depressed. I know my thyroid is acting up with all of this and I am sure I will need a med change but I am not scheduled for blood work till June and I know its going up because I have cold spells and my hair is starting to fall out and no its to early for it to be protein related. And I have a few other things poping up that happen when my TSH jumps over 1, because to me that is my threshold since I had my one lobe removed. I guess I just feel like everything is slowing down and I am getting chronic fatigue and I am deff depressed about all this. I do get that ,why did I do this to my self if I am not going to lose weight crap just a bad day and needed to vent. I have to tell myself I cant starve myself. I have to eat but I have only been eating one to two meals but I have been getting in my protein with my Nectar. I allow myself a small snack usually yogurt or something but you would think with all this and Mal absorption I would be dropping more then just a few pounds here and there. Heck I have hardly lost anything in the past two weeks. I know that isnt long enough to be a stall but it still is depressing..Sorry just needed to vent here a little bit..

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hun The Less You Eat The Less You Lose!!!! Your Body Will Get Scared And Hold On To Its Own Fat To Survive. To You Need To Eat Alot Lot More Than One To Two Meals A Day. That Is Not Going To Make You Lose.

Also Your Probably Just Stalling And Your Body Is Just Trying To Adjust To All The Changes Going On. You Will Woosh Soon Enough. We Have All Gone Thru This At Your Stage Hun Dont You Worry.

Just hang in there. We have very close surgery dates. I agree, you need to eat a little more so your body does not think it is starving. Is there any way you could have your thyroid numbers checked earlier so you can get that off your mind? What I find REALLY helpful is walking about 2 miles a day. Not only does it boost my metabolism but I just feel happier when I am done. Even if you walk really slow it is still something.

Don't doubt yourself, things will happen soon!

Honey Listen to Edie she of all people knows what she is talking about, she and I had our surgeries just a week apart and I was losing like crazy and she was hardly losing anything, she found out she wasnt eating enough. Once she upped her calories she started dropping too we have always been 10 pounds apart and now she is catching up to me fast. We all lose at different paces, but in the end we'll all end up at the same place (our goal) hang in there sweety you can do this just have patience. Your body went through a very traumatic event SURGERY it needs time to adjust and figure out what the hell just happened to it. Hang in there honey this too shall pass...ITS OUR WEIGHTLOSS SURGERY Montra

*hugs*

I am soo there! I am not eating enough either..... only 3 meals a day and I am struggling with it as I dont think it is enough to sustain me....

Please dont worry about the loss or the fluctuating.... you will get there! I stalled all week, then sat had lost 600gms, then this morning Gained 300gms! (hormonal).... It does happen. just make sure you are eating properly and getting in a bit of exercise and get your meds sorted (asap) which will hopefully help with your sad thoughts. Dont let it get you so down that you go back to bad eating habits to try and cope.

We are all here with you and for you.

*HUGS*

Keep your chin up lady Lisa, remember tht our bodies need the fuel to run like our cars.... its just not as expensive as gas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You must eat more frequent some little snacks of protein such as a cheese stick, yogurt. mini protein bars (SB makes yummy choco mint), maybe some soy chips....

I can't tell you to exercise cause I still can't get me LAZY &^%*& to do that!!!!

Actually, I truly need to find time in my day, I do about 1-2 days per week, 45m-1hour all together each day...

Don't get discouraged honey, your doing fine, especially since you have thyroid issues!!!!

Keep drinking as much as possible..

Keep us posted!!!

LOL,

hey there. its easy to be donw about whats going on but please if you remember ONE THING...never ever EVER compare yourself to anyone else. easier said then done but DONT DO IT. your body will move a long at its own pace once it is no longer in shock LOL. give it time. hang in there, and eat. it will not let loose until you take in enough for it to NOT think its starving to death you;re doing fine.

Awww ((((((HUGS))))))

Other than what everyone's said.
1) Try to get an earlier date for your thyroid follow up, June's still over a month off, and with the drastic change in your metabolism, that's too far off. From your symptoms, waiting till June doesn't sound good. You need to be monitored more closely for a while until your system settles down again.
2) Depressive feeling occur from time to time post op, sometimes serious, sometimes not so. However, thyroid dysfunction also results in depressive feelings, so again, you need an earlier date for your thyroid consult.

Hope you feel better soon.

definitely UP your eating... This is one of those odd reactions that people get after surgery. They seem to think we need to eat like how they think a thin person eats...

No...even at 6 yrs out I will start a little windfall of gain if i CUT BACK on eating. You gotta eat every 2-3 hrs, drink water in between and definitely go and walk each day!

You will get through and I'll tell ya I was a SLOW loser so hang in there. Each person is different.
