| Super Moderator | Depends on your end point weight, actually. Maintenance should be around 1400-1800 or so, depending on your stature-- both weight and height. Of the total cals, about 45-60% should be from carbs, after fulfilling the at least 60g protein requirement. Basically, post ops should concentrate on protein first, veggies next, carbs last, and lots of water. However, if your surgeon gives you exact instructions, always follow that and do not deviate from his/her program. If you find the need to deviate for some reason, then you should consult your surgeon if it's okay.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Thanks Doc, what would the range be for weight loss, not maintenance, of a person 5"4" weighing 210?

| Super Moderator | I'm saying maintenance, because you shouldn't worry about how much during weightloss, since your pouch is going to rule you, rather than numbers. Keep in mind, you are not on some kind of *diet* but rather, on a totally new program for eating. You should be able to get in about 1000 kcals or so once you are past your 6 months mark, so it will be less than that if you are less than 6 months out. Very early out, once you are on solid foods, probably 400-600, which will gradually increase. So, don't worry about the numbers, just keep up with the protein and water, and the rules your surgeon has set, and you will get to where your body needs to, in your body's time schedule, not on your brain's time schedule.
